pre/post facelift control swap

Post by ggmiller » Sun Aug 19, 2018 3:22 pm

Hi,

Before I damage something thought it best to ask you knowledgable lot...

I have a pre facelift e85, son has facelift e85, i like the silver knobs/controls for heating etc and he likes the black ones i have - are they swappable? Do they just pull off or do you need to swap the whole unit as they are illuminated etc?

Thanks,

Glenn

No you need to change innards so essentially it’s just the plastic your are changing or if your son wants I have a pre facelift plastic housing with a post facelift innards in it already.

Thanks Zoomer, I thought that could have been the case.

He does not want to pay anything as we have the potential to swap but if it does not work I will tell him of the option...

Thanks very much, I had heard something about that but could not find it so was looking for the clarification!

Shame you can't just swap the control knob...

Too be honest the hard bit is removing it from the car, the innards take a couple of minutes to change over. Just put the controls in the Same position on each before undoing them.
