Losing the will.

More problems today. Huge scabby bit of road. Now the back end feels like it's about to fall out the bottom of the car. Like all the subframe bushes have been knocked out. Lights on for god knows what and it's struggling to maintain a straight line.

Seriously debating just getting shot of this car. I can't keep tipping money into it.

Hand brake cable on the right snapped the other day and I can't justify taking a whole day out to remove everything just to change a poxy cable. Starting to see why these things are pretty worthless these days. Owners can't be arsed to keep chasing them. Which really makes me wonder why so many people of certain demographics buy nothing but high miler BMWs and Mercs... I can't ever end well can it.

:? Take time out and chill! Weigh up the pros and cons in a relaxed way, then look at the car calmly expecting to find problems, then make your decision. Remember there are lots of us here that own at least one of them and they are not all bad. :)

There will all ways be lemons? :( May time to move on. Doesn't mean another Zed of similar age would be such had work. :) But you takes your chance with old sports cars.

It's a shame you bought a lemon, all cars will have a few examples that are destined for the scrapyard.
Inspect the next car better before you buy

Got it up in the air. Rear subframe is rotten around some of the bushes.
Problem I've got with this thing. The engine is solid now, the roof is mint, the body is solid bar a few marks and there are 0 rattles from the car at all. It's just everything underneath it is shagged.

Sorry to hear your findings

I’m with BeeEmm... Time to look at the pros and cons.

Trouble with selling is finding a buyer, and that might not be easy now.

Do you have the time / space to break it up? That’s one option to consider if you’re serious.

I would break it anyway. I mean for the SC kit, meant complete xenon set up and the M Seats alone I'd get quite a lot for it. Plus I stress the roof is immaculate. Not sure how much they go for though.

The only other cabs that interest me is an s4 bi turbo but they are rare and I think it's be no better and cause all sorts of grief or an Eos 2.0T which seem dirt cheap for what they are.

What is really like to do is find a Z with a dead engine but very low miles and do a Frankenstein operation with it. Ideally a 3.0 so id inherit a 6 speed box.

So is are the sub frame mounts rotten as in rusted away ?? If so, your car must have lived by the seaside. These are really good cars, you unfortunately have a bad one. As above, take time out.
I could pop over for some moral support if you like.

I stripped down a subframe a few weeks ago - lots of surface rust but solid under all the cr4p. The rear lower control arms always look bad and the plastic cover/shield things don't help - I was going to replace with an adjustable aftermarket set.

What I'm getting at is that it might not be as bad as you think - I know you keep replacing bits but once the back end is sorted there can't be much more to do and you know its all good. You could buy another and be in the same state next year!

I was about to say pretty much the same. I think needs a good de dusting and maybe a fresh set of eyes. Unusual for these cars to rustout.
