Radiator fan replacement

Post by Rich8 » Wed Apr 18, 2018 2:47 pm

The bearings on my fan are on their way our and very noisey so need to replace it before it gives up, but the part from BMW is £450!!!

Anyone know if there is a cheaper option? Found plenty of "universal" fans advertised on t'interweb but they are A LOT cheaper so i am concerned (pretty certain actually) they wont be compatible.

Are my only options to have my pants pulled down by the stealers or try and source a second hand unit from a breakers?

Id rather replace with new rather than second hand. Does that mean my only option is giving £450 to BMW?

Where would i obtain tested used one?
£100 sounds much more like it.

Do you know of a source or is a case of trawling breakers yards for one?

If anyone knows the part number I’m after (or knows how to go about finding it ) would be much appreciated.

I’ve still got a fan pack that I bought in error due to the fault with my car being unrelated to the fan. It’s as-new but was hooked up briefly to the car of another forum member, bmwaddict, who also had a problem elsewhere but can probably attest to its condition!

Here is the original for sale thread. £200 - it’s in my parts warehouse (parents’ garage) in Aylesbury if that happens to be somewhere convenient for you?
