Front number plate mount removal

Post by Russ59 » Wed Apr 11, 2018 9:43 pm

With having the front of my car painted next week I’m unsure wether to do away with the front number plate mount or keep it on.

Yes or No?

Do it. I've just removed mine, big ugly things.
Have you decided how you're going to attach the front plate? A conventional plastic plate will never sit perfectly against the curved front bumper.
Currently zedless :(

Mine sits ok. I used double side sticky tape from Halfords.Stick centre first ,then outer ends.

Do away! Took mine off last week, getting the holes filled and painted soon too.

Be prepared to drill out the rivets and be left with five, yes five holes!

I like the magnet solution. I'm using a stick on foam plate at the moment but the plate curves downwards a bit too much for my liking if you centre it on the bumper.

Have you decided how you're going to attach the front plate? A conventional plastic plate will never sit perfectly against the curved front bumper.

Is this magic? I see no magnets :o

you don't even need magnets anymore - these stick to any surface

That's what I'm using on the front Jamie, perfect for flat recesses of bumpers, but they do begin to wrinkle a bit on the edges on curved convex surfaces like the z4 front bumpers.

Not according the the manufacturer they don’t. Also not recommended for everyday use, and they aren’t road legal.
