Roll hoop covers

Post by Russ59 » Sat Mar 24, 2018 11:10 pm

I’m shortly going to be having the front end of my Zed repainted, bonnet, bumper and wings. Oh and rear spoiler.
I thought about having the roll hoop covers done at the same time but read on here that they don’t come off very easily. Has anyone had theirs done while still in place on the car, is it do,able?

Roll hoop covers

Its doable but requires a lot of masking and to be honest mine aren't great. I'm going to bite the bullet and remove them this spring and do it properly. I have a set of rear sides for the hoops that a forum member kindly gave me so I'm going to use those as the clips easily break off when removing

I haven’t tried getting them off but have read that the clips will almost certainly snap.

Im going to wrap mine in place on the car.

Painting on the car will work, but you will have to seriously go to town on the masking... a better option IMO would be to buy a new set of hoops, paint and then get the old ones off without having to be too careful about the clips.

My mate has a wrapping/tinting business and he has all the panel removing tools so will let him have a go, failing that I’ll ask my painter about doing them on the car.

Even if you break a few of the clips they will still fix back together perfectly.

As said above even with a few broken clips they still go back together fine. I did mind in the summer and look a lot better in black

Any decent photos from people who have painted these? I'm considering doing so myself but not sure if it will look right on my zed :?
