I suppose seeing the car with own eyes has to be the best approach - let the buyer beware!

Ha! No I don't - I shared your scepticism about BOC so did some research which I wanted to share as you did - balanced views and all that.jamie_z4 wrote: ↑Thu Mar 22, 2018 7:54 amHmm... It has good spec and looks mint bar the additional M badges.
Although the car is low mileage, I think the asking price is quite steep. I personally wouldn’t pay anymore than £9,000 for that motor.
If and when you test drive, make sure you check the tyres for both brand and wear, check the discs and pads and even check to see whether there is play in the bushes. The car is 12 years old, and although it comes with a full service history, you may have to spend more on some of these parts as they’re less likely to have been changed due to its low mileage.
Good luck

Yes it is but does have a bit of a poor rep but then again so does the Williams Bmw/Mini dealership across the road and the Porsche one next to it for that matter! Only thing I'd use either of them for would be a test drive or parts.earthdweller wrote: ↑Thu Mar 22, 2018 9:03 amThought sopattyclfly1 wrote: ↑Thu Mar 22, 2018 8:57 amYes it is.earthdweller wrote: ↑Thu Mar 22, 2018 8:54 am Isn’t that place a few independent dealers all trading under one roof/brand ?
It's hard to know with the individual "one man band " dealer setup inside Boc who is bad and who is good (if any!) Especially as tenants in there come and go. To be fair the Bolton one does seem to have a better rep than the Boc near Bca on Hyde Rd manchester. That's not saying much though, ive heard some real horror stories about that place!
Due to the nature of the place I think you just have to have a look at it, unless of course you can find reviews of that individual trader within Boc rather than Boc in general and that's enough to put you off.

Might also be worth finding a slip road somewhere and giving it a good old Italian-tune up once she warms up on your test drive.

Nah, if you keep the miles down on that car it will only appreciate in value. It has 'good investment' written all over it.

I agree that low mileage cars hold value, but keeping them at that low mileage isn’t easy, especially when you only have one car.
When I bought my car it had 30,000 miles on it. In 6 months I’ve done 5,000 already and am due for a 2,000 mile roadtrip in May. I will probably hit the 40,000 mile mark before 1 years ownership.
If the OP isn’t going to use it much then fair enough, but if it’s his only car I would get something with slightly higher miles but at a cheaper price.

I suppose it depends how long your daily commute is (if you use public transport etc etc). I really only use my Z in anger at the weekends and for the occasional blast across the Yorkshire Dales so my mileage tends to be 3-4K p.a. so you are right in that as an investment it needs that kind of ownership.

It’s gotten so bad, that I reset my mileage counter to check how many miles I am doing per week.

I've run an Experian check which is clear although it shows that the current reg was changed from another private plate, RLZ7818, on 10/4/2008. Is there anything I need to be considering and digging deeper about?
