Is there any reasonably priced diagnostic tools or software to do what the BMW scanners do. Not just a OBD2 code reader. Volkswagon has the RossTech Vagcom... Anything like this for BMW?

Hi, Carly is available which gives the ability to code the car to your tastes as well as reset service reminders/low brake warnings etc?

BCables setup from Ebay is pretty much what VAG com is, but for BMW.

Don’t waste your money on the BlueDriver scanner. It’ll diagnose major engine issues, but not a dash light, let alone clear a dash light on the z4.

Which is the right bcables one to get? The £23 K-Line kit or the £33 D-CAN kit? ( Mine's a 2006 3.0si)

BMW z4 is still kkl (k line) but the d-can cable will also work; backwards compatibe.

You can get a K+Dcan cable on ebay for about £12

But for the couple of £ difference, why would you not buy the one that's compatible with a lot more cars?

The TS might already have a suitable cable as kkl cables are also used for vag com VCDS.

On old VAGCOM kkl cables you needed solder OBD pin 7 and 8 together to get it working. Some old KKL cables (like mine) had a switch to switch them together. I even think these cables also work on newer cars.
But the latest k+dcan cable (also with a switch now) works just as well. Costs about £12 delivered on ebay.

I’ve got be bcables software which worked on my 06 e86 which I’d be willing to sell. Should have the CD and cable. I’d have to check.

Just checked their site, it’s the D can version I have (with the switch)

In keeping this thread going, I just received my bcable and have it with the switch for k/d. My main first reason in getting this is to get my 03 z4 out of transport mode but as reading this going back and forth with k/d reference, what should in set it to k or d?
