I fear loosing mine so I always make sure I use the Bmw antifreeze mixing to at least 80% never had a washer freeze up.

I don’t need a washer because I wash the car frequently enough. So I deactivated mine, coded it out. And it still fell off somehow?

Can confirm that the star shaped fitting is indeed the same as fitted to the XC90 headlight washer, as for the cover - I got a used one from breaker for a fiver and painted it (subsequently repainted when I changed bumper)Swiftly wrote: ↑Fri Mar 02, 2018 12:06 amI read on another forum a while back that the diamond shaped retaining clips are also a shared part with the Volvo XC90 headlight washer jets and are interchangeable with BMW. I've not actually confirmed this myself, but thought I would share it since it might be cheaper to buy the Volvo unit just for the clip alone.Ewazix wrote: ↑Thu Mar 01, 2018 11:38 pmThat one is primed, I had an un-primed one from the dealer cheaper a few years back and painted it. I had previously wondered if the retaining clips could be 3D printed and it now looks like someone is, I've no idea if they are any good and won't just ship your new cover but must be worth buying to see if it looks OK. Buying a complete washer unit is the only way to get a retaining clip from BMW and cost £80 or so. https://www.shapeways.com/product/WY58J ... z4-e85-e86

Cheers Mike, there was also a seller on fleabay selling these star shaped clips separately for £7 each and they weren't 3D printed ones either, as they were OEM bought direct from the manufacturer. As usual I forget to bookmark it at the time and now can't find the seller on fleabayDucklakeview wrote: ↑Fri Mar 02, 2018 5:39 pmCan confirm that the star shaped fitting is indeed the same as fitted to the XC90 headlight washer, as for the cover - I got a used one from breaker for a fiver and painted it (subsequently repainted when I changed bumper)Swiftly wrote: ↑Fri Mar 02, 2018 12:06 amI read on another forum a while back that the diamond shaped retaining clips are also a shared part with the Volvo XC90 headlight washer jets and are interchangeable with BMW. Is the old washer jet easy to disassemble? I’m still looking to replace mine and figure I may as well fit the whole unit pictured above to hopefully avoid future (re)failure.
Has anyone done this? Or just replace the diamond swivel section and cap?

Right so I can just pull the old one out? And then it pushes back in? Just that... seems too easy?

Correct, the diamond clip just requires pushing back in place to relocate it mate. It really is an easy refit and thats also probably why the original diamond clip disconnected so easily in the first place.

I got the clip from Shapeways for about £5 plus postage and the cap from ebay, found it easiest to fit the clip on to the cover first then got a mate to activate the washer grabbed it and clipped it in, so far so good.
