What Battery?

Post by ferry » Thu Feb 15, 2018 5:27 pm

My Z4 has spent a fair bit of time sat in the garage lately with the occasional run out to keep it charged and healthy. Today I've gone to get it out and there's life i.e. things work, but not enough juice to crank it. Tried to jump start quickly but no luck so I've whipped the battery out and put it on charge. Charger is telling me it's pretty flat and looking at it there's a reasonable chance it's goosed anyway - it's old!

If it is dead, does anyone have any recommended suppliers for replacement batteries please?

It's a 3.0 so I think it's an H096.

Thanks

Varta, same as Bosch but a bit cheaper. 096 is the largest size these cars take I believe. There is however different tray inserts for different sizes so perhaps check your current one is the same size.

If the run isn't long enough then it won't charge it back up enough, also get yourself a charger you can leave connected e.g. CTEK.

I'm running a Varta E45 (I think) - has been fully discharged once but still going strong a good 2 years later.

I went bigger than that by taking out the plastic insert and fitted an Exide EA900 http://www.exide.info/spec/ea900.html this is 38mm longer than 096 size.
