2005 Z4 2.0 Thermostat location

Post by Elsavavavoom » Mon Feb 12, 2018 6:44 pm

Hi all
The heater has stopped working on my girlfriends 2005 2.0 Z4, I cannot find the thermostat on the engine. I’ve searched the internet high and low and this forum for any clue. As to where it is located. It would be greatly appreciated if anyone could point me in the right direction
Best Regards
Paul

If the engine still gets hot then the heater should still work, even a thermostat that’s stuck open wouldn’t stop the engine from getting hot, it would just take longer.
I think your problem lies elsewhere, check the pipes going to the heater rad are both hot.

Thanks Rob and apologies for the late reply. You were bang on it was not the thermostat. A big air blockage was the prime cause, and now the heater works although it cools down when stationary. Just had the roof motor relocated to the boot by Mike up in St Helens who straight away via diagnostics identified the issue is the auxiliary water pump (Its a 2.0i E85)....the local independant were trying to convince me it was a blocked heater matrix which is a nightmare of a job, Thanks again
