As we all know the e85’s with an electric oil level sensor have a screen with a series of blocks to indicate the volume of oil in the car.
There are five blocks, 0 blocks = add 1L
Several blocks = “OK” all the way to 5/5 blocks again “OK”.
My car holds 6.5L of oil as do all SI’s.
If 5/5 blocks indicates a full system and 0 blocks mean add 1L then is it safe to assume each block is worth 200ml? I know a lot of people would wait for the warning and chuck a litre in but I think it would be handy to know eg before setting off on a long journey but don’t want the hassle of topping up on the fly.

Just keep 1L bottle in the boot and top up when indicated.
As with a dipstick the electrical indicator is only a guide with plent of tolerance.

I used to top up in around 250ml increments as it's divided by 4 and it worked as expected. I never let it run down to add a litre as by the time that happens it needs it ASAP and I might be somewhere a long way from home. You can carry around a bottle but it's unnecessary.

That's what I work on - mine is currently in the middle, so I'll give it half a litre soon.Steve84N wrote: ↑Sun Jan 14, 2018 6:40 pmI used to top up in around 250ml increments as it's divided by 4 and it worked as expected. But my first one came with a soft plastic case with "Castrol" on it that holds a one litre bottle and has Velcro to stick it to the carpet.
Really handy I thought, so it's now in my current one just in case!
Coupes because stunning!
