Sat Nav or Not in a Z4 Coupe?

Nav every time!

Although the Nav is ok 5/10 (Latest maps, 3D mode and TMS Service) it is very clunky and slow. (Google maps is better)

I like having the fuel computer screen up and the track names and the DSP settings.

When you say no 3d, do you mean like the perspective view?

Yes, that is what I meant. :)

Hate the SatNav in my 2006 e85 its tediously slow to enter a destination the screen pops up every time I change station or function and abit of a pain to update. My old TomTom is much easier to use and free updates for life but with the built in there it sits in a drawer. :(

You can use that view on ours, only thing missing like modern ones is the overlays for turns and current speed limit

Old sat navs do nothing for me. I deliberately avoided Zeds with the flip up screen when i was buying my car, i think it spoils the lines of the interior not to mention the software being clunky. Google maps wins hands down imo.

google maps renders ANY manufacturer's navigation system useless!

put it this way - would you buy a portable unit (e.g. tomtom or Garmin) from 2003-2008?

I am always mystified about how people love the portable or Google when I have nothing but problems with them. Last week in NL, my phone with Google got completely lost and kept telling me to turn around on the motorway. Good thing I sort of knew where I was going.

And if I get into areas where there is no phone reception it gets even more fun with Google ...

Yea that is one limitation with google is that if you lose reception then you can’t search for new destinations but I’ve never had a problem. Maybe google with an old fashioned map is the solution :)
