Rear Spoiler Debate (Again!)

Ok,

Back again for feedback!

I purchased my rear spoiler back in February 2017. Ever since, it's just been sat in the local body shop waiting for me to make a decision!

I have finally decided. In my decision making, I have recently purchased a slightly battered and bruised rear boot lid (in metallic grey) as a back up (to be stored in the shed/loft/garage) which is due to arrive this week at a crazy low cost of £25 with a £10 postage,

The plan - well my cherished White Zed will be having a rear mod. To date, all I have changed is the front headlights (massive improvement imo) and had the Seat Hoops sprayed piano black (worth every penny). I have kept the OEM headlights and Hoops to revert back to it's original look (if desired).

The boot lid purchase is a back up - if I hate the look of the new spoiler, it can be changed back.

The Spoiler will look like this? Worth noting my car does not have 4 exhausts, the same back lights etc etc. Its a standard 3.0L manual with only 32k on the clock now!

Votes and Opinions - Spoiler a NO or a YES?

Yes! Maybe the spare boot lid will turn out to be a sound investment. You won't be needing it for your car!

Wow - 2 out of 2 - say Yes!

Yeh - The Mrs is not convinced about the extra Boot Lid purchase but it was bought on the side of caution - until it's fitted I'm not 100% convinced. The rear spoiler is so Marmite on the forum and with owners, hence why it's taken so long to decide. I am probably taking it too the extreme with a boot lid buy considering I may never need it!

It's a no from me I'm afraid. Over the boot is one of the car's best lines imo.

Go with what YOU like is the best advice I can give. Screw everyone else :)

My thoughts, for what they're worth lol..

On a "simple" back end, early car, lights and regular bumper, single exhaust.. I think it looks OK from straight behind. From the side it looks too overhanging.. Too long out the back and the way it just cuts off with no flow to the rear quarter it looks awkward.

With a beefier back-end, bigger bumper, quad exhaust, bigger wheels it works a bit better..

I guess I'm edging to the NO side lol..

It's your car though so it's up to you.. I guess if you've procrastinated this long you're not "convinced" yourself..

The only way you'll have a better idea is to do it then decide.. It's almost Christmas, treat yourself 😆

I started this same debate a while back with the same dilemma. In the end I never really did come to a clear-cut conclusion as a more discrete option became available which I'm more than happy with. However I ended up selling my aero spoiler to another member of the forum and it looks great on his.

Ultimately it's low risk to you considering the spare boot lid so go ahead and whack it on and see how you like it. There's no better means of evaluating than first hand physical scrutiny. I sometimes worry a little too much about what others think but am quickly learning it doesn't matter what anyone else thinks as long as you like it and the black stripe does look kinda funky.

edit: I guess I kind of fall in line with this opinion for me personally but again it's win win in your case having both options.

The spoiler makes the rear end look too high for me yes to the black grills

Not really helpful if you already have one but following a few inquiries from people about mine I have come across one not identical but similar here http://www.maxtondesign.co.uk/product/z ... eface.html as a more discrete option.

It's a yes from me

As one of the previous comments, if you're having so much deliberation then perhaps you have to many doubts. Commit fully and go for it. You can always remove it!

Hi,

It’s a no from me for the spoiler: I would personally go for the more discrete option suggested by thanatu55.
It’s a yes for the black kidney grille

What headlights did you fit? I have a Z4M and not impressed with its headlights despite being dual xenons...
