As you are aware that the only issue in fitting the new seats is the passenger occupancy sensor due to the facelift version use a different version.

Option 1
Buy a new passenger occupancy sensor (pre-facelift version) and dismantly seat to fit it. Expensive and time consuming, this will require removing leather off seat.

Option 2
Buy a passenger occupancy sensor bypass switch off ebay for around a £10.
Code car using SSS v32 and DIS v57.
DIS v57 is incase you set airbag light off which you can reset.
SSS v32 is for switching off seat belt warning, the reason for this it that the bypass switch makes the car thing there is someone seating in the seat at all times to allow the airbags to work in a crash. The problem is that this would cause the seat belt chime to go off if you are driving alone unless you clip seat belt in !!!!

Removing seats
1.If electric then move seats either backwards or forwards to gain access to the front and back bolts (4no. 16mm) the front ones are nuts with a black cap on.
2.Un bolt the seats (both)
3.INPORTANT do not unclip loom under seat at this stage.
4.Disconnect battery in boot and leave for 30 mins.
5. Unclip yellow loom plug under both seats and remove seats from car.
6. hoover car !!!

Passenger seat
7. unplug from underside of seat the black square box from the yellow plug including the black plastic cylinder shape connector next to it, should have blue and white wire comming out of it which goes to the sensor pad in the rear of the seat.
8. fit (7) to new seat, you will need to open back of yellow plug by sliding the black cover off on the back of it.
9. tie up the existing sensor wire on the new seat as you wont be using it.
10. fit new bypass switch to black plastic cylinder shape connector.
11. seats ready to fit in car.

Refit new seats (battery still diconnected)
12. place seats in car.
13. bolts front or back bolts in place.
14. plug loom (yellow connector) in under seats.
15. reconnect battery
16. move seats back or forward to bolt remaining bolts and fit cap to front ones.

Start engine to check if airbag light is on or off (should be off)

Coding
17. run DIS v57 to check for faults and delete if required.
18. run SSS v32 (must have change.iso file installed) section 2 retro fit items
19. once software has ran through processing select retro fit at bottom.
20 top right select seat belt warning
21. select driver or passenger
22. select deactivate
23. ok it and follow instructions, now when you click on start you must have 13 volts showing on the software top right at terminal 30 & 15, if you haven't then you need to installed change.iso requires regedit and working within VMware
instruction on how to install change.iso http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1744307
24. car should run through coding and finish.

All done.

Hi guys, sorry to dig up a really old thread, i just wanted to add to this as this post really helped me and not much info out there:

I fitted facelift memory sport seats into my early 2003 bmw z4. I purchsed a cheap £5 seat occupancy sensor bypass from ebay, and then used the instructions above. I removed the seatbelt chime by loading up NCS-EXPERT in a virtual machine on my mac. I then followed the guide on bimmer forums and downloaded the tracefiles from the GM5 module.

The two settings ot change from "aktiv" to "nicht_aktiv" are SBR_BEIFARER (seat belt warning passenger) and SBR_FAHRER (seat belt warning driver).
It all worked really well, and now i no longer have the seatbelt chime and all my airbags work correctly

hope this helps someone

You can remove chime via SSS v32 in retro section, very easy no worrying about getting the coding wrong. Simple turn off

Might another option be to cut off the facelift plug and fit an old style plug (or vice versa). I think there are three wires on the facelift and only two on the pre-facelift so this may impact its effectiveness.
