Headlight help. 2007 Z4 3.0si
I have spent a month looking for a replacement driver's side xenon headlight. When I finally found one and ordered it it did not match. Mine has 2 projector bulbs and ridges around the lamps. The other one had 1 projector and 1 regular headlight and the interior plastic was smooth up to the lights. I decided to go aftermarket but only see Spyders that have negative reviews. Anything else out there or is there a good source for replacement oem lights?

It seems like you purchased a headlight from a 2003-2005 E85 Xenon model. You'd have to go 2006+ Xenon unit to have them match.
Unfortunately, unless you're just buying aftermarket headlights just to HAVE headlights or because you like the look of them--I'd stay clear of aftermarket headlights. Their beam pattern and optics are far inferior to OEM. Even if you throw an HID kit in there, the beam pattern sucks Aftermarket companies don't have enough money and R&D to deliver the same quality of beam pattern or materials of the whole assembly. Sometimes, it seems like they could look good parked up against a garage door by looking at the cutoff--once you take it on a dark road you'll be sorry. Not to mention a lot of them always end up with moisture inside the headlight which gets annoying.
Stick with OEM if you can help it.

I will let the ebay seller know he advertised it wrong. He swore it was for an 06 to 08. I really don't want to spend a grand on a new unit. Besides, I am getting older and seldom drive at night : . Will keep looking on ebay for the correct light. Thanks

If it had clear indicators (rather than orange) then surely it is a facelift headlight, just not the same spec as yours ?

It seems weird that they would have 2 different styles of lights. I tried to attach a picture so if it goes thru, mine is the light on the right.

I have the type on the left in the photo on my 2007 car. (Halogens)
If the problem with your current light is that the outer plastic coating has become foggy, then it is quite easy to get it refurbished (or do it yourself).

Bigger problem that that. Most of the internal wiring is bare and I can't access enough of it to fully replace the insulation. If I could disassemble the whole assembly I could put heat shrink tubing on it. The headlight must have been very hot to do that type of damage but I am reading that it is a common problem in the Xenon headlights. I wonder if yours is different than mine because it is an M model.
