Trivial I know, but....

Post by smayles » Fri Jul 20, 2018 10:59 am

Just completed a 300 mile round trip to the coast in my 2003 E85. Huge fun....but after a while it started to get slightly uncomfortable with my right knee resting against the hard plastic of the door moulding just below the window switches. There was a similar problem with early Land Rover Disco door handles and some after market kits appeared to provide padding. Does anyone else have this problem, or am I just a whinging softie?

I guess it depends upon physique, I'm 6 foot and don't have that problem - drove from Preston to Scotland last year in comfort :driving:
(I have the M seats, which could be a factor)

It's not trivial, I always come back from a track day or Ring trip with a bloody great bruise on the outside of my right knee.

Although I only have the problem on track, when I'm trying to brace myself for corners.

My solution was to fit Recaro Pole Positions which support the outside of my upper legs, so that the knee never comes near that part of the door.

What seats do you have? I find the Zed to be very comfortable on a long run. Drove from Skye to Cornwall in a oner a few years back. I have my seat back against the bulkhead and very upright to accommodate my long legs, being 6" 4". :D

It's usually my left knee that gets bruised, my right seems fine.

My left knee touches the dash on bumpy roads. On smooth roads, there's about a papers width between my knee and the dash. It's a bit tight
