Is on at a good price, from my understanding this is water getting into the engine which then siezes it.

Yeh that is what hydrolocking is. And it’s had a fair bit of work done to it. I have two concerns though - one - electrical damage, fair enough the engine is fixed now but what else did it cause? Or could it cause electrically? And secondly... resale value. It’s wlways going to be less desirable than a none write off.
Z4 now sold :(

Its about 5k less than if not Cat C for that mileage, agreed though re the electrics.
About 15 years ago I owned an alfa 145 cloverleaf and was contacted by an insurance company who told me that when new the car was in a dealership in the Fens and the forecourt flooded above the level of the sills but somehow the car was never registered as a flood damaged car, they gave me the price I paid for the car, £7k it seemed fine, and offered me the option to buy back for £2k, I declined based on the fact that water had got into the cabin, and it being an Alfa!!

Cat C and the worst MOT history I've seen on a Z4 suggesting sloppy owners. All round Doggy doggy mutt mutt IMHO

Interesting to see how the car was failing on excessively corroded brake lines and then later passed with advisories for slightly corroded brake lines. Can see that it was standing for 5 months and I guess the lines got corroded on that. Same thing happened to mine, but mine was standing for arounnd 4 years.

Seems like they changed the suspension coils and someone put them on the wrong way too

The last MOT also had advisories for painted brake lines preventing inspection. The poor thing's been neglected because owners know a Cat C isn't worth spending big bucks on, if it was a kid it would be taken in to care.

Just had a look at this & looks the dogs. Wouldn’t let it being a cat c put me off better a cat c at a good price than not a cat c dog that’s been butchered & paying top money. If your budget stretches to 6 k & not 10 or so go for it just have a good look round it first. Just remember your only paying low money for it so don’t expect top money when you sell again 👍

If the car looked good and I was looking I'd be seriously tempted - it would be nearly twice the price if it wasn't a Cat C!

Seems like a bargain for anyone intending to keep it any length of time - Cat markers tend to be less of an issue the older a car gets.

ducklakeview replaced my rear brake pipes in copper last year for a very reasonable amount - no advisories for them this year.
Coupes because stunning!

Between each MOT test it has a range of miles too, some are 30+ and others only 6 miles between the tests. Looking at the fact the same faults kept coming up on retests I wonder if he kept chucking it into various garages until he found one that would pass it doing minimal work to actually repair the car.

Must be worth a look if local though, anyone actually seen it??

Just looked at ad again, brakes seem to be sorted, easy enough to check, set of non runflats £400, knock that off the price, ditto repaint of front bumper, £5k in cash may get it, Agreed never going to be worth much more but a sub 50k mileage coupe for 5k whats not to like

I would be asking him to stick another 12 months MOT on it, looking at the issues he had to get it MOT'd last November I'd be a bit wary that he has just found someone willing to pass it. Or he's spent a fortune on it but still thinks it needs more money.

You could buy it and in 4 months you'll be stuck with some very large bills trying to get it on the road again unless you have a keen eye when looking around it to make sure it will pass its MOT.
