Vapour Barrier
Due to all this rain we’re getting I think I may be in need of a new passenger side vapour barrier as I’m starting to get water entering the car, can’t find them for sale anywhere, does anyone have any ideas as to where I could find one? Getting desperate now p.s took the door card off about a month ago for another reason and it is fairly ripped

Whats a vapour barrier? Are you talking about the foam door membrane? If so, i bought mine from BMW a couple of years ago. From what i remember, they weren't very expensive. I used butyl tape to stick them on.

Have a look on realoem.com for an exploded view of the door and relevant part numbers. Some part numbers have a link to BMW Direct so you can order there and then.

BMW part, approx £43+vat each. The tape is also required to fix it in place, about £15 a roll plus vat, part no for the tape has changed, it is now 83 19 0 000 537 - Butyl cord.

You should be able to repair all but the worst rips with butyl tape for a few quid from Amazon.

I need to do this too. I have veritable swimming pools under both seats when it rains these days!
Swapping in towels under the carpet to soak up the moisture is becoming a bore.
Can i use any old butyl tape from a diy shop or has it got to be a specific type? Whatthe best width to go for?

Think the stuff I got was about 1cm x 1cm but it squishes down. You can very roughly cut off the existing sealant and replace it, and cut short lengths for any small rips. It should all amalgamate together nicely.
When you've got the door cards off it's also worth replacing the silly little block of foam that stops the door pin rattling. Think it might even have been an LCI bodge job by BMW in the first place!

Turns out the leak was a mixture of the soundproofing/vapour barrier being torn to s*** and letting water through to the door card and into the footwell and also a perished window seal which when I got a hose on the window didn’t stop hardly any water from entering the door! Not a great time of year to happen
