Sorry to ask a stupid question but whats a PE?stuartinzg wrote:I prefer the twin pipe, this one is... Nothing special and a bit lacklustre compared to the rest of the car.
I bought a BMW PE for my 320d e92 and it was excellent! Even made if sound better!

Just completed 665 miles on a single tank (45 mpg) with almost all motorway miles.
I'm going to try and get 700 but I think it will be tough and require sitting at 56mph on a motorway without any town driving!

That's pretty impressive considering your lugging what - 1800kgs about, however not keen on the filling up station bills at the endbluestreak56 wrote:Just completed 665 miles on a single tank (45 mpg) with almost all motorway miles.

Btw, did you try putting it in neutral on downhill parts can you do that in the 8sp auto? What happens if you hit the stop button? Do you loose power steering and servo brakes?
Nb, theoretically speaking mind!

That is what really impresses me about the 640d in that it weighs 1800kgs yet it still manages to return 40 mpg and I think that is really good going for the performance it offers, and the 600 mile range helps cut down the fill ups a little too.Sae wrote:That's pretty impressive considering your lugging what - 1800kgs about, however not keen on the filling up station bills at the endbluestreak56 wrote:Just completed 665 miles on a single tank (45 mpg) with almost all motorway miles.

If I had to be harsh though a Diesel engine hardly ever gets the pulse racing sadly and I wish they offered the X4 M40i in the UK because that looks like a really stunning bit of kit

Re: Time to Transform again.. Goodbye Zed
Most of it was driving with cruise on so it sits coasting at 70 downhill. I dont like putting cars into neutral when travelling at speed (my dads always said you lose full control of the car when you do so) but I dont think you really can the 8sp auto as you say. With the cruise off, I just lift off the accelerator and it goes into charging mode.Sae wrote:Btw, did you try putting it in neutral on downhill parts can you do that in the 8sp auto? Stop button? Do you mean start / stop? If so yes it locks the steering lock when stopped.
Yes 1820kg according to BMW, but presumably closer to 1825kg when you add on all the electric seats, 20" Alloys, reversing camera, folding mirrors, prof nav pack, harmon karmon sound system, adaptive headlights and climate comfort windscreen..LeeZ4MR wrote:That is what really impresses me about the 640d in that it weighs 1800kgs yet it still manages to return 40 mpg and I think that is really good going for the performance it offers, and the 600 mile range helps cut down the fill ups a little too.Sae wrote:That's pretty impressive considering your lugging what - 1800kgs about, however not keen on the filling up station bills at the endbluestreak56 wrote:Just completed 665 miles on a single tank (45 mpg) with almost all motorway miles.

Agree with you its no Zed performance wise but it is a great cruiser and has plenty for overtaking.
Agree RE the power of the X4 M40i but looks wise they havnt done enough and as you say the fact the UK gets no petrol variants at all is a shame.

I really like these and hopefully in the next 2 years they come down in price to somewhere I can afford.

Prices are falling, Ive seen some around the £30k mark. You're right in the next 2 years expect some to be £20k or so.Nictrix wrote:I really like these and hopefully in the next 2 years they come down in price to somewhere I can afford.
