Poly bushes

Post by firebobby » Fri Jul 16, 2021 4:39 pm

I have just purchased a pair of rear shock absorbers for my LR Discovery, they came with yellow poly bushes and washers. There is no sleeve to go through the new bushes though. They slide on to the mounting pin and there is a bit of play, but there is play on the old shock mounts too.
The old rubber bushes have a sleeve.
Should there be a sleeve for the new ones??

No experience of LR bushes Fred but mechanical thinking says definitely you need sleeves, you can’t expect a heavy vehicle to be relying on rubber alone on the mounting points. You sure you have the right shocks..? Weird that there is no sleeve for shocks though full stop. Strange one… :?

Poly bushes

Few years back now, when poly bushes became a 'thing' I fitted some to my 2,8i Capri.
At the time there was a lot of discussion about the lack of sleeves, but in that case I don't recall having any play?

Plenty of LR Forums out there who will be able to give you the answer I suspect.
HQ of 'Norfolk Zed Rescue'.
Always happy to help if I can.

If the forum helped you, why not help the forum back. Thats the Z4 way!

Cheers both, I have got mixed comments from LR forum that I'm on. So I will call the supplier tomorrow and see what they say.
