Anyone got an Audi E-Tron?

Post by Darkangelv2 » Tue May 11, 2021 2:40 pm

Hi All

Have the option of a company car coming up and wondered if anyone else had made the leap to an Audi Full Electric?

It'll be either the Q4 E-tron or the standard E-Tron.

They look pretty great in my opinion and at £20-40 in tax a month, a bargain.

Just wondering how people have found the change to full electric and whether the Audi delivers on its promise?

Now is the time to get an electric car if you can do it through a company car scheme. I drove past an E-Tron on the motorway last week and it looked sensational - other than the baby puke green colour.

Not an Audi but I’ve got a Tesla company car.

No brainer regarding tax , cheap motoring. They are very fast, smooth with instant torque

A great daily driver but a bit soul less

Got a two mates with an Etron and a Tesla.........as others have said it's a no brainer as a company car for the tax savings alone.

It's a shame really because the Etron in my opinion looks good, has excellent build quality, but surprisingly hasn't been reliable and also the range isn't great.

The Tesla is the opposite , looks absolutely shite, has the build quality of a 1980s Alfasud but has been very reliable and consistently delivers the quoted range on a charge, depends on your priorities I suppose

We’ve recently got a Model 3 LR. It’s very, very quick but quite dull to drive. Pulling out of junctions though is just on another level, instant power and incredible traction.

So far I think from a quoted 360 mile range I’d be lucky to get 270 miles and that’s driving sensibly. We’ve got an EO charger at home that works well and the Tesla Supercharger network is a great fallback if you need it.

Our car is through a salary sacrifice scheme so is very tax efficient and works out extremely cheap, we wouldn’t have bought it otherwise.

Lots of positives from the Model 3 but I know that I’d have much preferred an M340i for the same sort of money!!!!

Not an E-Tron but I have a Polestar 2 and I think its great. I had a Model 3 before and whilst it's more efficient I feel the Polestar is a lot better package overall for similar money.

The E-Tron is pretty poor in terms of its energy consumption I believe.

My wife has an Etron 50, it’s an amazing bit of kit. The switch to EV was daunting before hand but in practice it’s fine with no problems, 5 months now and no drama. We haven’t used any charge points yet as we haven’t been anywhere that would necessitate it but it won’t be a problem, we’ll just factor it in to the journey and grab some shopping or food while it has a top up and then onward.
It’s real time range is pretty accurate if you drive it sensibly, 150-160 range is what shows after a full charge, we’ve done a 140 mile round trip and it still had some range when we got home, did 70 on the mostly motorway journey but driving on A roads is more economical than motorways for sure.

Ours is through the NHS and it’s a lot car for the money we pay and while we haven’t actually costed charging accurately, in rough maths it’s less than half the cost in “fuel” than the petrol car it replaced.
As a company car I would imagine the monthly saving on company car tax will be significant when compared to an equivalent petrol/diesel vehicle.

The home charging point we have is the middle of the 3 options that Podpoint offer, it’s about 8 hours from nearly drained on ours.
Oh and you very rarely use your brake which took some getting used to, regen braking charge thingmybob.
On the green side of things I am not convinced on anything other than the zero emissions.
Great car, go for it

One more thing, the Etron is colossal in size, it occupies more space than a VW transporter did on our tiny drive

Thanks all

95% of our journeys are probably well less than 20 miles (there and back) and there is an allure to never visiting a petrol station again! Except in the zed, of course.

I’ll have to set up a test drive and see how we like it. I just can’t ignore the savings it offers!

What reliability issues did they have?

The Audi full electric is the only option we have at the moment in our scheme.

Been into the dealer several times for minor electrical issues and anomalies........less than 200 miles range in real life conditions.

M3LR Tesla here, wouldn't buy any other EV at the minute.

After trying to use public charging points I don't even entertain them anymore, unreliable, slow, crap.

The supercharger network is a game changer, we often do 500 miles a day in it no problem at all, the integration in to the satnav is top notch.

If your doing limited mileage though then you might not bother about that.
