I never knew this car existed before today. The doors are out of this world - and you'd probably need to be out of your head to drop them whilst in motion. As Top Gear said at the time "offers the chance to drag your knuckles over cats eys at 80 mph" :o

Seen that one a few times, including yesterday. Lovely car I would put one in the garage and enjoy driving it in a heartbeat, if only space and wallet were more accepting.

They're surprisingly quick for such an 'old' car - as there wasn't a lot of weight (about 1250kg) to move around for it's 170bhp.

The alcantara seats are very grippy too.

However, it does feel VERY open when you're driving/passengering with the doors down :P

 You’ve just made me feel old, I was expecting to see some strangely modified Z1, not a post saying you didn’t know what one was

There’s a WD episode where they worked on one that shows some of the car’s quirks off well.

I’ve been a passenger in one for a short distance, never driven one.

Great looking car aren't they? Those doors are just bonkers! I'd never heard of or seen one until I saw this one at Zedfest in 2017  .

I went to a BMW Car Club meet at Gaydon some years ago and there was quite a row of them, although I don't think I've seen one since!

But I did watch a repeat episode of Wheeler Dealers recently where Mike went to the Netherlands to get one. One of Edd's jobs was sorting out the door mechanism which was really interesting.

I'd quite like one - they are so different to anything else.
    Coupes because stunning!

I have know about these for years and probably should have bought one 15 years ago - values are increasing.

Great cars and would love to put one in the garage along with a eight :D

Great thing with these is the body panels are plastic so won't rust the unfortunate thing is they're tending to go from around 50 to 60k these days :o

Pity BMW have lost the plot in designing unique cars these days.

Seeing the Z3s in the pic makes me miss mine :(

Couldn’t you also swap all body parts and change the colour of your motor?

    Head. Blown.
If the forum helped you, why not help the forum back. Thats the Z4 way!

Yes and they said it would take around 40 minutes which was more like 12 hours in reality
