Started using Menzerna

Post by Hilly30si » Sun Mar 28, 2021 4:55 pm

Started to use Menzerna wax and shampoo and have to say well impressed with the results for middle market product. Cleaned with their MZ wash then cleaning fluid followed by Liquid Carnauba it’s really bought good results to the TR.

My daughter works for a chemical cleaning wholesaler company that as just started stocking it. She bought me a starter pack to try. Hope no one minds it’s pics of the TR going to start the BMW 5 soon as Mediterranean Blue does come up nice.

Your TR6 looks absolutely stunning!!

I used Menzerna compounds and polishes when I was doing a lot of detailing about 15yrs ago, and they were considered some of the best products back then. Lots of new brands and technologies about now, but I’ll still be using my menzerna products on the Z4.

Nice job

Looks memmorising  I have used Menzema three stage products on the Bmw,s I have owned and found it to work ok.The trouble is new products come on the market with great reviews and you have to try them.

Dead right it’s all about the happy medium material cost for your car, there’s no way I would use the Ceramic coatings costing hundreds, but I see the sense on a Ferrari Lamborghini etc.. I love detailing my cars with good quality materials.

It's all marginal gains. The amount of money spent is not proportionate to the end result. Who cares if one wax lasts four times longer than another when it's 10 times the price. If you enjoy cleaning and waxing your car (as I do) then I don't mind putting a fresh coat of an inexpensive wax on every couple of months. I doubt that anyone could tell the difference. Wax and enjoy

Some people feel the same way about their cars as you obviously do about your watches. They will pay extra for quality and longevity and an extra £1000 for PPF on the whole front of the car as well, if it is driven regularly. :D A good quality ceramic coating will last 24 to 36 months. Yes, it will cost between £85 and £120 for 30ml but you won't have to reapply for about 3 years. Top up with an 'overcoat' spray every so often. Most waxes, expensive and cheaper, do not last on the lower half of the doors. You will notice your car beading on the bonnet, roof and other reasonably level surfaces, but spray water on the doors and you will see that there is little protection there, even after a few weeks. A quality ceramic coating will bead the same all over the car. :) For years I waxed my cars, then discovered that it lost it protection quickly on the dirtiest part of the car, the lower half. I have put a ceramic coating on my last 5 cars and would not go back to wax, even though the finish can look better than ceramic with some.

It really does not matter with the TR as if there is 20% chance of rain it’s going no where in fact I have had it three and half years and it’s never been wet.

I know what you mean regards expensive wax and coatings, I did buy a TT Roadster new in 2003 and kept it 6 years, and it only covered 24k miles but I detailed it right from the start with Swissol and even applied the wax with my hands, the beading all over the car was a sight to behold and I only did it once a year

Ah! 'Swissvax Best of Show'. I went through 2 tubs when I used to wax and I also applied it with my warm hands. Lovely smell and a great wax. If we carry on like this it might be regarded as car pornography :D .

Now I have retired I like nothing better the putting a day aside to work on the car. I take the wheels off and wash all the wheel arches suspension components. I sometimes spend a whole 6 hours on the engine bay polishing the copper brake and clutch pipes really freaks some people out. Even the exhaust does not escape

I am not sure I would go to that detail but the idea of having that much time to do exactly what one likes sounds bloody fantastic. Hopefully, in less than two years time I will be in the same position. :)
