Some people feel the same way about their cars as you obviously do about your watches. They will pay extra for quality and longevity and an extra £1000 for PPF on the whole front of the car as well, if it is driven regularly. :D A good quality ceramic coating will last 24 to 36 months. Yes, it will cost between £85 and £120 for 30ml but you won't have to reapply for about 3 years. Top up with an 'overcoat' spray every so often. Most waxes, expensive and cheaper, do not last on the lower half of the doors. You will notice your car beading on the bonnet, roof and other reasonably level surfaces, but spray water on the doors and you will see that there is little protection there, even after a few weeks. A quality ceramic coating will bead the same all over the car. :) For years I waxed my cars, then discovered that it lost it protection quickly on the dirtiest part of the car, the lower half. I have put a ceramic coating on my last 5 cars and would not go back to wax, even though the finish can look better than ceramic with some.
I agree with you.

I bought my car with ceramic and PPF on the front half and honestly I will never touch wax again.

I have some stuff on top of the ceramic and have been told by the detailer to expect around 7 years protection.

I keep the Mrs car with wax and a top up spray and the difference between the two is night and day.

I blow dry the cars rather than towel and the ceramic is constant. So easy to maintain and the water sheets off everywhere.

IMHO, I wouldn't put ceramic anywhere near a car like that TR6

Ceramic coating definitely isn't for everyone (or every car). A daily driver which sits in the drive exposed to the elements 24/7, you just want to look good and give an easy wash, then I would say ceramic would be a good choice. But a garage/fair weather toy that you enjoy giving a bit of TLC, then I would say ceramic probably not the right choice for this sort of car.

As with anything, there are pros / cons / choices. Lots of discussion on ceramic vs sealant/wax over on Detailing World forums.

Wash, wax (or top up your ceramic) and enjoy
