My X6 went in yesterday for a recall on the front prop shaft.
Dropped it off at 2.50 and received a call at 4.25 to say it was ready for collection!
Was supposed to be a visual check with possible replacement but they replaced it.
It was booked to be done today.
Why is it that when you dont want to wait on something it gets done in record time?

Not surprising that recalls get done very fast, or as quickly as possible. From what I know BMW pays 0.75% of the hourly rate for the required job when it's a recall, so technicians really want to get it out of the way so they can do other better paying jobs. Plus the experience of doing the same job so many times really speed it up.

Yes, I mean who can live on £75 an hour? We all need the £100 to survive; surely?lucasxdiniz wrote: ↑Wed Feb 24, 2021 7:51 pm Not surprising that recalls get done very fast, or as quickly as possible. All good things come to those who wait. I'm really impatient which explains a lot.

I remember when they were called mechanics. The "technicians" don't earn any less, the dealership does.
Oh hang on, a mechanic is someone who knows about cars, a technician has a laptop and has been on (multiple) training courses. Yes, they are technicians.
Poor dealerships. I wonder how they can make ends meet when they mark up their labour rates by, what, 300-400%, if the numbers quoted are correct.

Had the same on the steering track rods on the G29. Dropped it off at 8.00 as requested as it was apparently going to take all day and needed investigation. They had also warned me that although the parts were due in, they had been on back order from Germany.
Anyway, barely 2pm and get a call and its all done. Always the way huh.
