Me too, matey, me too! :D
So it would seem M3 for the whippersnappers and Alpina for the more mature of us?
All good things come to those who wait. I'm really impatient which explains a lot.

M3 but not that one, thats a lot of money for an M3 Convertible. You'd be better off in a sub 20k one IMO.

You have M4's in that price point too which may be worth considering

M3 or Alpina B3S?

I have found out quite a bit of information about the black Alpina from the Alpina Register guys (thanks for the heads up MerBook).
It was advertised on there privately late last year but he obviously didn't want to wait around so it was sold via a BCA auction to the crowd selling it now. It has full main dealer service history and was owned for the last 6 years by an enthusiast. The Alpine Register keep tabs on pretty much every car and it would seem to be a good 'un!

Only looking at that M3 because it's one of the last 500 with really low mileage, so might be an "investment car". Looked at loads of M4s, £25k is entry level money and they are going to keep losing lots of money for a while IMO. It's the rarity of the Alpina I can't get away from; every man and his dog has an M3 or M4.

M3 would be a better car long term and cheap to own / maintain.

The N54 in the Alpina isn't the greatest engine BMW made and has quite a few weak points, also the gearbox in the M3 is much better too.

Id find a sub 20k M3 in decent condition and not look back, V8 NA which is never coming back in a BMW :)

Another car to consider would be a B7 RS4, thats a pretty safe convertible to put your cash at the moment.

The white middle one keeps catching my eye, it seems good for the money. I've discounted an Audi, I can't get excited about them! :(

This is the problem. A mate said to me today that because of the sort of money I am planning on spending, there are too many choices! My heart and head are at odds, which is why I can't make up my mind. If the bl00dy brakes that I ordered a week ago for the Z4 turned up, I would at least have something to do to take my mind off this! :)

I like the blue M3 - not keen on the Alpina because of the wheels.

Alpina any day. If you dont like it, you'll be able to buy an M3 the next day, they're everywhere.

As a V8 M3 owner I am of course biased but the S65 is epic and masterpieces like this will soon be a thing of legend :?
