Bought a new car!

Post by Commando_Rob » Fri Jan 29, 2021 6:32 pm

So bit impulsive but been looking at buying one of these for a while as prices are starting to go crazy!

Wasnt cheap! but she’s only done 20k miles and has full LR main dealer history comes with 12 months warranty that’s extendable!, I bought from Harwoods LR in Croydon she went up for sale on Saturday I put a deposit same day! And picked up today!

Am pretty chuffed if I’m honest! Got to get some good footage of the Z on the move! as that went down for trip and got a good friend to drive it back following me in the Defender. Salesman even commented on the Z!

Make sure you've got a decent alarm and or Tracking device on it as these are very stealable apparently. Nice motor

Absolutely superb choice, I had one years ago as company car, being a big lad I could only drive it with the window down to accommodate my right elbow, if you have a Defender or have driven one you’ll know what I mean.

As above, be very careful where you leave it, seriously, these are very hot property for the crooks.
I have seen plenty around, with the steering wheel removed, to try and slow the thieving B/stewards
Looks lovely and will only go up in value as long as you look after her.

A few years ago my mate had a 90 that was just a 2 seater cab with bucket seats, a lift kit, winch etc. No radio and not much heat.
I was in it once and swore I would never get in it again. I know they serve a purpose but I dont see the attraction for an everyday car.

Very nice. Like the colour.
A guy walks his dogs at Hankley Common and has a black, four door one.
I’ve noticed he always removes the steering wheel when he leaves it. Didn’t realise they were quite so popular with thieves.

They should be called LR Ear-defender because you need ear defenders to drive one, nowhere for you right arm or left leg, cold in the winter & baking hot in the summer, road holding is terrible and there not very good at stopping either. Apart from that there ok if you are using it as a piece of machinery designed to work off road or in a third world country, otherwise there’s far better.
But if the op likes them fair enough, oh and as others have said they are very nickable.

Neighbour recently bought a '65 one. Different game to yours. Was told it was oil tight. Well, that depends on what is considered 'oil tight' .Came off the trailer that collected it and was puddles everywhere :? Said he could only get 35mph out of it. Was going to do an engine rebuild and lots of other things and found it was in low drive  At least the oil leaks give chassis preservation.
He loves it and its not my idea of a vehicle . Leaves a bit soot mark on his freshly painted garage wall with a horizontal exhaust out the drivers side.
Hope you have fun in yours. Oh and security. Saw one on the Ridgeway parked up with chains and locks round the wheel. You could hardly see the steering wheel at all. They are so easy ( earlier ones) to nick.
