The faces are pretty similar, it’s the rear arch treatment that seems to be dividing opinion.

And lol at the last option.

You know what scares me..... its growing on me :sick2:
The rear arch? I know that the M4 has a weird split shoulder line that really disrupts the flow of the design, what the beef with the rear arch?

Just looks really lazy - like they didn't want to produce a different door panel for the M.

Think I'm getting used to the front too. The M440i in black that's been doing the UK review circuit looks quite good (plus 60 in under 4 seconds!).

As Baboons Ars#s go they both look a tad OTT from the front. Then descend into mediocrity as you move your eye rear ward. :)

Thank goodness for Number plates.

Love the Green too very AML.

I'm not against the idea of the large grille, i dont HATE the look - but it's just getting a bit rediculous now, so fussy. Both BMW + Audi's modern design language is basically 'how many random uncorrelated creases and lines can we throw at a design'. It's low budget lazy design imho, when you see how the E46 M3 looks and compare it to the latest stuff (my m135i included).

I follow that guy on YT designer of the Mini and X5 iirc, his takes are always quite insightful

Gotta agree though, I think my issue is the "I've covered it in glue and drove it through the halfords ripspeed warehouse" look that really makes me wince :sick2:
I will say though that the Audi grille I dont mind, its kinda just Audi now and thats fine but the BMW kidney is iconic (yes i know they used to be tall!) and this is just smashing that to bits, same with I think the 7 series, the grille is just offensive, its garish

BMW have a long history of ‘decisive’ styling changes that have pissed of the faithful..

Despite my love for my E89 and I really love the E85s I’m not a fan of most of BMWs ‘design languages’..

Mercedes amazes me...their move from man with hat and overcoat owner to more ‘yoofful’ owners and styling has worked well for them...

To me BMW seems to just shadow others and then has the odd design brain fart for no obvious reasons..

    So I guess that’s a no..

The only thing that bothers me about the new M3/M4 is the weight...with the RWD versions weighing circa 160kg heavier than their predecessors. Who knows what the AWD cars will be like...
