The New BMW M3
I am not a fan of Chris Bungle's designs, although I am warming slightly to the new 3er.
Today, I saw the new M3 in the flesh for the first time. I'm a crap photographer, so I didn't even bother taking pics, they wouldn't have been able to show you how much better the new M3 is than a standard 3er. The differences are much more subtle than the differences between the E46 3er and the E46 M3, but if you put a standard E92 next to an E92, there is no comparison. The new M3 really kicks the stock E92's ass when it comes to looks.
The design is still not as handsome to my mind as the E46, but it's clear to me that BMW have definitely improved the looks of the E92 dramatically with the new M3.
I may be slightly smitten.

Re: The New BMW M3
Well, I went and had a good look at the ///M3 today, although unfortunately I never got a drive in it
For me, in looks best in a solid or light colour (red, silverstone, white, space grey) - in the darker colours the bodywork modifications can get lost a bit. The interior - Fox red I didn't like, I prefer black. The 19" wheels looked awesome, with the drilled brakes behind.
It's expensive in the UK - looking at £55k for a decent one - not sure I could live with that. What with the traffic etc. here, I think I would end up having a lightly used 335i instead and pocketing the aditional £20k.
I might go back tomorrow for a few pics.

Re: The New BMW M3
Sorry but that doesn't do anything for me, I have seen pictures of a Silver Grey one that does look a lot better though. Perhaps I'll change my mind when I see one in the flesh, but there's nothing there that would make me change my Z4MC for one.

I wonder what the Audi RS5 will look like....
The Z4M Roaster & Croup are gone!
It's E92 M3 from now on.

I think it'll be a toss-up... both cars look great.

except that the RS5 has Quattro.
Stick 4 winter tires on it and use it in the winter too unless the snow drifts are in the 15cm range.

I agree with you about the colour - there were some Silverstone piccies kicking about previously and it looks brilliant in that colour, can't wait to see it in the flesh.Top pup wrote:Sorry but that doesn't do anything for me, I have seen pictures of a Silver Grey one that does look a lot better though. It seems that the RS5 will have a couple of blowers, 450+bhp and 500+ lb ft - if so, then that and the C63 will make the M3's outputs look a tad aneamic

Re: The New BMW M3
I am still waiting for BMW to post pricing on the BMW USA website. I could see myself switching out my Z4 for M3 (there are times when I really could use a back seat), but I suspect that it will be priced a bit higher than I am willing to spend right now.

Do you mean options pricing? They announced the base MSRP last month as the NAIAS: $57,275 for the coupe, $54,575 for the sedan.ay8306 wrote:I am still waiting for BMW to post pricing on the BMW USA website.

I missed that, but yeah, I was talking about the "Build Your Own" feature that gives you option prices.epbrown wrote:Do you mean options pricing?
