Hope they push 981 GTS prices down. Still an incredible car.

The flat 4 turbo GTS cars have dropped like a skip full of steel chucked out of a helicopter Byron. I did well to get out of mine just before Porsche announced the 4.0. There’s a guy on Autotrader who had his up at the same time as mine this time last year, one of only two for sale privately, he wanted roughly the same money, about a grand more than me, same colour interior, exterior, identical miles, mine got sold as it was a better spec, and this guys car is still for sale as we speak, he’s had to slash the price to a notch above 60k and it’s still not budging, been on now all summer. I seriously reckon he’s going to have to drop it to mid 50’s to get it gone... He’d have been much better off taking about £68 for it instead of holding out for every last dime, it’s bitten him on the arse like nothing else. I’m still mopping my brow that I got out only losing a T shirt and not a full shirt. The dealers are full of unsold GTS’s, never has there been so many for sale at any one time, I keep a very close eye on them out of interest. I’m afraid the 4.0 has absolutely killed the 4 pot turbo cars in GTS guise. I’d think folk are biding their time for 2nd hand 4.0’s to come to market, I’m pretty sure non lairy coloured ones will be snapped up quick sticks.Beedub wrote: ↑Sat Sep 19, 2020 1:05 pm oh man the new 4.0 boxster!! what a thing!!

As for the GT4 and 718 Spyder...the price of these with some toys thrown on will not deter folk with that kind of money simply because of the kudos. It’s a crafty but clever stroke from Porsche, let’s sell lots, relatively speaking 4.0 engined cars that wouldn’t normally bet sold in such volumes by keeping the GT4 and Spyder for the so called ‘Purists’, that simply must have one, and put the lump into a car that’s chassis wise already pretty brilliant. Win win for Porsche....and for buyers wanting a car of this calibre. The loser being the turbo 4 pot owners unfortunately.
The 981 Spyder owners wanting sell are going to have to get realistic too, they still want north of £70k for them, hence they’re not selling. A new 718 4.0 GTS starts at £66.5 k base car. Throw in 10k of options and you’re there, only 5k or less more than a 981 Spyder. Whose going to throw £70k at a 981 when that’s on the table...?
Just my thoughts on it obvs.

I have just done 500+ miles to Cornwall and back in my Cayman GTS 4.0 on all sorts of roads and its one fantastic car. A real joy to drive and whilst I did not have any gripe with my previous F4 GTS, this car is in a different league. With regard to second hand prices on the GTS 4.0 they are still very strong as supply is quite scarce. I am sure prices will start to drop as more new cars get delivered and I would say they would be well worth a look at.

How did you find the gear ratios Boyo..? Too long or liveable with..?Boyo wrote: ↑Tue Sep 29, 2020 11:47 am I have just done 500+ miles to Cornwall and back in my Cayman GTS 4.0 on all sorts of roads and its one fantastic car. I think the gearing ratios is a bit of a myth as has been mentioned recently in a couple of reviews. I have been keeping the revs below 4K but even at that level the engine noise is great

I've had my 981 GTS for a few months now and it's an epic car that is brilliant in so many ways. Being completely honest, and as much as I love the M, if you guys want a proper sports car then the 981 Boxster is so much better than the Z4M it's not really even comparable. I have only added 200 miles on my MC in the last 3 months, which says a lot
I'd expect the 4.0 to be better than my 981 in every way apart from the sound. Although you can spec these to £85k fairly easily.

Ah now then, read my mind a bit here. In the cold light of day and being completely non emotional, is there really any need for a Boxster when you have an M..? Wait wait.... Throw on some quality coil overs, new bushes, RTAB’s, Vibratech mounts etc, etc, on an M, Remus boxes if you have any....which you now don’t.... or similar, and you have a hell of a good car for two thirds or so less than a GTS. Is it really good enough to outweigh the savings...?Angelus666 wrote: ↑Wed Sep 30, 2020 4:34 pm I've had my 981 GTS for a few months now and it's an epic car that is brilliant in so many ways.
