I still remember seeing one of these outside a hotel I was staying at in Bahrain - had to do a double-take seeing the door in the 'down' position  .
There's a great Wheeler Dealers show of one being worked on by Edd China - worth finding if you're interested.

Love these, the days when BMW made cars you'd want to own.

I wish I had a £ for every time he said ‘normal car’

The Z1 isn’t an E30 with a different body, it only uses the engine, drivetrain and suspension.

The Z1 isn’t fast off the mark compared to today’s hot hatchbacks but once it’s rolling it is a great drive and handles well.

The Z1 was a concept car that was put in production, available from 1989 - 1991, 8000 total production and all LHD.

About 50 Z1’s were made for the UK market.

There are around 80 in the UK at present and I have one of them :D

Looks nice, but a bit confused as to why they would mount the clock in the headlight (second pic) :)

The doors drop down to enter.

It's really weird seeing them on the road with the doors down though.
