I've defected....
An impulse purchase last week where I've ended up purchasing a 987.2 Cayman S. The car is fully specced up and after driving friends 981/781 the alertness of the 987 steering really stood out so I decided to jump at it.
Still have the Z4M and yesterday drove both back to back about 140 miles. On road I found the Cayman deceptively fast relative to the Z4M and more composed, the stock 987 is comparable to my Z4M with significant upgrades (KW V3, engine mounts, AP front and rear brakes etc). The charm of the Z4M is in it's imperfections, it feels more alive at lower speeds and more frightening at higher speeds partly due to it's slight chassis woolliness.
987.2 retains it's communicative nature from 1/10 to 10/10ths, at no point do I lose "contact" with what the car is doing and the engines also seem comparable. S54 appears to have a more zingy top end but that maybe due to a relatively lazy mid range where the P car seems to rip through the mid range (Porsche is PDK so that may play a part.)
The main reason for buying the Porsche was to take it on track, I find the E85 chassis a little bit too involving on track and becomes a bit unpredictable when pushing on where I'm reacting to the car rather than telling it what to do. I find it a superb and enjoyable road sports car so it won't be going anywhere soon.
987 was at Ninemeister for the past week having a Wavetrac, Girodiscs and geo which has made it even better. Both very fun cars but I actually find them refreshingly different.

Heard too many good things about the Wavetrac not to try it out.
Full floating rotors with RS29’s.

GT3 master cylinder fitted.
Had Spa and Nurburgring booked for the coming week but due to this damn virus everything postponed.

I never planned to have "multiple" fun cars but that's what's creeped up on me. Only downside is that I've now run out of garage space but fortunately looking to move to a bigger property as children might need to happen in the next couple of years.
GTR is still king and the performance still takes my breath away.

Porsche parts prices are certainly eye watering, someone clipped my wing mirror and the glass fell out.
A replacement glass.......£500+ vat!! No oem equivalent available for the auto dimming glass.

There's a few full wing mirrors on ebay. Not sure if they're auto-dimming though

It’s the auto dimming feature that makes it expensive. None on eBay so far (gen 2 ones anyway).

boo. Stick in an £8 replacement for now and keep checking ebay until one comes along?

After seeing the parts prices I think you'll need to add an 'a' to defected....

This is what I'm thinking. BMW use a blue tint for anti dazzle but Porsche seem to use the electrochromatic fluid. I can get blue tinted mirrors for £40 each side, might be a sensible "upgrade". Especially as they're not foldable mirrors so I can imagine this isn't the last time it's going to happen.
