New Car - More photos if you are interested

Post by BeeEmm » Sat Dec 21, 2019 10:16 pm

I took ‘proper’ delivery of my new car today. I just cannot resist a two door BMW, straight six, 3 litre, rear wheel drive Coupé.
The car is an 840i in Sapphire Black with Fiona Red/black Merino leather with gloss black wheels. Love it, love it and love it.
The dealership gave me space and time to give it a machine polish and ceramic coating before I drove it to have PPF (paint protection film) on the whole front section up to the door mirrors.

I got it back today with all the protection finished. First drive planned to the Midlands next week followed by Edinburgh in February and Northern Italy in April. My main aim is to tour as much of Europe as possible within the next 3 years. I regard this car as a proper Grand Tourismo and as I have worked pretty much solidly for the past 56 years this car is a wee treat in my retirement to satisfy my love of driving. I will take my wife as well, of course!

It looks really mean and moody in those photos OP - lovely.

And your planned trips sound great too - enjoy! :driving:

I was a bit late discovering the joys of BMW straight 6 petrol engines, but I'm trying to make up for that now.

I've been telling everyone the 8 is my dream retirement car... sadly I've got another 30 years to go before retirement so might be jumping the gun a bit.

Looks stunning!!

Not for me, I was looking a these in the dealership and for £100k-ish it's doesn't look or feel special at all. It's very similar to the look and interior of a 1 series.

I think the overall cost of a Bentley GT would be about the same and a far nicer environment to be in.

I appreciate that you have a different view to mine and that’s fine, but I have heard it said that if someone says that one car looks like another, they don’t really know anything about cars, nor do they appreciate subtle but important differences. It is like saying that a Monet painting is like a Cezanne as they are both impressionists. My wife has little interest in cars and she says that “they all look the same to me”. Does the 1 series have a Carbon Core?
