Must admit I wouldn’t choose a 718 over a nice s/h 981, having extensively sampled a GTS with PSE, but I think if you can live with the noise then it’s obviously a bloody amazing car in all other respects.

The GT4 and Spyder have now added a much-needed halo to the 718 line-up too.
Yep makes perfect sense Mr PT, tbh if I wasn’t planning on lots of long distance trips as well as hooning then I’d have probably gone for a 981 GTS, however toys and creature comforts are a must  18 way seats, adaptive cruise, Burmester gramophone etc, etc, The 981 doesn’t have adaptive, and I’ve never seen one with Burmester fitted, plus PDK cars with 18 way seats are like rocking horse dump, then of course the cost, a low mile 981 GTS is still around the 50k mark without the essential toys so as I was able to go a bit further, I did... The engine noise thing doesn’t bother me at all, the 718 makes a deep bassy tone with laughingly theatrical pops and bangs, it’s just different to what we’re used to, some like, some don’t, you pays your money....Chassis.....?? Sublime...damn it’s a good car to drive...!!

I have to admit that I could be tempted when I eventually change the 35is - I think the M40i is just more of the same in a different cloak - but I also admit to be more confused by the Porsche nomenclature and range !

If I went into a dealership today I’d look like a chump - and potentially gullible.
You don't stop playing when you get old - You get old when you stop playing!
So I bought a 35is with all the toys to play with.

Nothing much, just replace the rotten cross members under the little table then sand down and yacht varnish it, get rid of the ghastly stain that’s on it now. He likes sitting in it with a brew watching the birds feeding.

I see from a thread on the 718 forum that you a tad disappointed with your Boxster GTS John.

Happened to me as well, I bailed out after 4 months ownership and just had to bite the bullet and stand the loss. I'm glad I did, I found the Porker to be very uncomfortable and noisy (not in a nice way), I'm so happy to be driving a G29 now. Just my opinion of course

I concur

I had this on courtesy for a couple of weeks when i had a 981 Cayman and it was in for warranty work.

I thought it was s**t in comparison.

It looks great.

I'm taking delivery of a new 718 Cayman GTS on the 16th (for a colleague who's on holiday :driving: and I'm looking forward to driving it over the following 2 weeks until he returns).

I was a bit taken back when he said he managed to spec it up to 97k! That's ridiculous considering what else is available for that sort of money.

The Boxster GTS 'basic' weighed in at around £62K when I specced mine, most things (heated seats, electric mirrors, rain sensing wipers etc etc) are extra. Easy to head up towards the £100k mark if you get carried away!

I can't help feeling that the name 'Porsche' is responsible for a lot of the cost

No Doc is right Nictrix, I did post a musing that I’m not connecting with the GTS. However, I’ll freely admit 7 weeks ago I came off pretty strong antidepressants, I’m trying to deal with it without drugs but proper depression, which is a bastard I’llness, takes many forms and one week, or a few days, can be totally different to another. I went out tonight in the GTS and I got the same buzz I got on the test drives, something I didn’t get last week with the car, so this week I don’t want to sell it, next week might be different again, I’m on a learning curve, days at a time.
