Which would you take home?
Neither as I do not like the styling.
The Supra is way to fussy and I do not like the front end of the Z4.
The Z4 looks like a cross between a Honda S2000 (which I think look great ) and a Fiat Spyder which is not to my tastes.
I did follow a G29 while on the M25 a few weeks back was in gloss black and must admit it looked good apart from the front which is funny as I love the back end on my E85 but feel the front end is weaker in looks and aggressiveness and it was the opposite with the E89 in my eyes.

for the top down mince down to Portofino I'd agree. But for an actual sports car, a ruddy great hole in the roof absolutely ruins the drive, either in terms added weight through cross bracing, or a chassis with the torsional rigidity of a blancmange

Makes it clear how much more power those engines are making over the 'book figure' - which I guess makes it even more of a puzzle as to why the z4 is slower?! Maybe all that cross bracing to prevent the aforementioned blancmange handling?

Think both are awful!
The Toyota seems to appeal to the under 10's and the Z.......well its just a bit boring!

The Z4 - because you can see the sky and on the road in the UK you couldn’t notice that difference in performance.
I would say doubtful that many would worry about the handling either - I didn’t notice anything bad.
As the price to change from my 9k/Sep16/35is was massive then the change to an M40i specced the same would have just been plane stupid.

Supra all day long, the Z4 is wrong in so many ways.BMW have been far to conservative in the design.

Supra for me too. I actually like that Toyota have taken a BMW sportscar and had the balls to make it better looking and handling. Wouldn’t take one over a Cayman or Alpine, mind.
The Toyota promo cars were getting properly eyeballed at Le Mans and generated a real buzz. No way would that have happened with a convoy of G29s. This whole 276bhp redux thing is totally deliberate and already helping make the Supra a bit more special.

If I can keep my ///MR for the sunny days. They I'll take the Toyota for the rainy days. Can't see me personally ever wanting or buying a G29, as it looks and goes at present.

I just watched it - maybe Toyota are using the BMW US spec engine that is claimed to have 382bhp!

If I was spending 50k on a BMW I’d take an M2. More engaging, more character, better looking and whilst it’s not a pure bred sportscar, I’ll bet it feels sportier than either.
As a fun car however, I think I’d get more enjoyment from a new MX5 with some ITBs and a few other choice mods.
All things considered, I think I’ll just keep the MC, best of all worlds

At last a voice of common sense. There are so many comments made as if people actually drive these things to their limits. Of course, there are always some that can, and do, but the other 95% will pick a car based on how it looks, and how it makes them feel. Pick which one does that for you, and enjoy your driveronk wrote: ↑Sat Jul 06, 2019 8:38 pm Which would I take home?

Well that’s exactly it though, isn’t it? Toyota have clearly taken more of a gamble in trying to appeal to the emotional side of ownership. The Z4, while a great car by most measures, is the one that an analytics program spat out.
