Nice, what engine? Zetec? Sold mine back in 2005, but do look for Megabusa's now and again, or one with a S2000 engine :)

1.8 zetec on twin 45s (which I dont think like standing for 4 years hence the trip to Aldon)
Not massively powerful (been in a busa engined flying machine)
Good go kart fun though and very light

Got the Westfield out of 4 year hibernation

Post by ronk » Wed Jun 05, 2019 11:00 pm

I was on the point of buying a Westfield - had one all specced - then a dozy old duffer crashed into the passenger door of mrs K’s Audi - that was game over for the purchase - she said buy if you want, but I’m not going in it!
I never did buy.
You don't stop playing when you get old - You get old when you stop playing!
So I bought a 35is with all the toys to play with.

Yeah when you're cracking on you do tend to look around the structure and wonder how youd walk away from an impact

Havent driven it since 2013 so I'm sure it'll feel very strange once I get it running right. I bought the zed to replace the Westfield but never got round to selling it. Trouble is I built it in 2002 so it's got a special place in my heart :D

She said that if we had been in a Westfield she would have been hurt - I couldn’t think of an argument against her logic.
That’s why I bought Z4 No 1

Just sold mine. Built it, IVA'd it, drove it and sold in . All in 2 years. Was my third and definitely last one. Was an S2000 car . Got back all that I spent in building it , minus labour, obviously , so a low cost car.

Spoke to Aldon Automotive at Brierley Hill this afternoon to see if they'd managed to get any life back into the old girl. Mixture of issues all carb and standing idle related. Got her running and now going to rolling road her and improve her. I had to mention that the cambelt was original when I built the car in 2002 so might need renewing before he put on the rollers....think I gave the poor guy a heart attack
Seems a real old school professional outfit that inspires confidence so fingers crossed it'll be back on the road soon and by all accounts much better :D

I ran over a cat eye at 60mph whilst leaving a roundabout onto a dual carriageway in my first Westfield. It unsettled the rear end and I span into a lamp post and then the crash barrier. The tubular frame protected me and I was uninjured except for whiplash, despite the car being a write off. I wouldn’t like to be hit by another vehicle though, or have a hard rear impact (the fuel tank is the crumple zone).

I've had my current Westfield over 15 years but it’s been in hibernation back in Blighty for the last three, with an annual run to an MOT station it’s only use.

I’d like an S2000- or a Hayabusa-engined Westy for track use here, but I’d need to import it to Aus from the UK and buy a tow car too.

BRG is the best choice for a Seven :)

Z4MC - heavily fettled for track use
Lotus Exige - sensible daily driver on the mods slippery slope
Westfield SEiW - in hibernation
Modified RS4 Avant - back in Blighty
S2000 GT - gone

We get cosseted by all the electronics in modern cars - I can’t imagine a cats eye having such a dramatic effect on the Zed !

The bussa experience was awesome. Instant power. I tried a blade engined one on a Westfield test drive but was very underwhelmed...all noise and no go.

A lot of things unsettle the Westfield and at speed you feel like you're wrestling a wild animal
