If you look after them they are very reliable. My Cimaera 450 gave me no problems and travelled to South West France on numerous occasions. The V8 is bomb proof and the car is a lot less sophisticated than a Z4. And the sound track is worth every penny of the amount you spend on keeping the tank topped up. 😀

Many years ago, I purchased an "M" Roadster that visited the dealers many times with a front windscreen trim problems (only done 4500 miles) - it kept coming off, so much for build quality.
On one occasion I said to the Service Manager, that I'd have several TVR's and never had such problems with trim falling off and his response was, that many of his customers had told him the same story!

TVR's may be what some people call KIT cars, but aren't all the cars that we buy made from a selection of various components - alias kit cars of a different ilk.

My partner purchased a brand new car from a reputable dealer 2 years ago and when it made the ripe old age of 7 months, the electronic steering failed, hence it had to be trailered back to the dealers - reliability when buying NEW!

This is my second Chimeara and ( I shouldn't type this) so far no breakdowns or problems :?

I've not owned or driven a M roadster but it was a choice between one and a TVR , in the interest of cheaper maintanence the TVR won whether that was a wise decision remains to be seen lol

When you want/need to give your ears a rest and a lighter clutch is appreciated but a roadster is wanted the SLK is a godsend

I created a light clutch solution for my Chimaera 450 (modified pedal and alternative clutch assembly), now the pedal is as light as my partners shopping car.

I've also seen a brake servo plumbed into the clutch hydraulic line and that felt really light in comparison , but I'll probably just suffer it and end up with a massive left leg

The clutch can get really heavy when your stuck in heavy traffic. The servo solution is effective, but there is a lot of plumbing required.

Just enjoy it for the time being, you'll never look back (once bitten forever smitten). They were an awesome car in the day and still are.

My only tip would be to get a Manual Fan Over-ride switch for the radiator (peace of mind).
