I drove this at the weekend. It ran out of fuel 150 metres from the petrol station.

Fantastic car. The handling is superb and unlike the F10 M5 it accelerates from stationary when damp (the F10 never did accelerate when damp, just spun the rear wheels). Four wheel drive makes such a difference. A few reviews I read said that the 'Competition' model was a bit hard. Not a bit of it for me. Firm yes but that is what you want in a sports saloon which delivers over 600 BHP. The various drive modes allow for precise positioning, not a hint of oversteer or understeer. Loved every minute of it. Like all M5 cars it can be driving at a steady pace, but I never experienced that. It's a bit like Andy Murray.

How did you get on with the DCT gearbox? Have a read of my F80 M3 review viewtopic.php?f=16&t=105692&hilit=test+drive.

Interested to hear if you had any similar feelings?

Phil, as far as I am aware the F90 M5 uses a ZF8 Auto and not the DCT. The 8 gears selected quickly without delay or hiccups up or down. The car defaults to 4 wheel drive but you can select between 4 wheel, 4 wheel sport and 2 wheel drives. I had an F10 M5 for 2 years and the new car is miles ahead in every respect. There are 2 downsides for me, you have to put fuel in it and my specification costs £106,000.

For buzyg. I love the front especially the door mirrors and the large black kidney grills.

I went out in an M5 saloon yesterday - not a new one, but “impressive” is an understatement !

I don’t think I could trust myself with 600 ponies, the temptation with 340 is bad enough
