My niece has been offered what looks like a great deal on one of these, although it has done about 90K miles.
I know there are other options, but as she works for a Skoda main agent having a VAG car seems to make sense.
It's got the 12 Valve version of the 3-cyliner petrol engine, so I was just wondering if anyone on here has any experience of these? Any common issues or recommendations?
TIA.

Pretty much bulletproof but the coil packs do have a tendency to go although cheap to fix and the newer aftermarket ones don’t give as much jip as the VAG ones did years ago but not expensive to run and maintain. Solid and robust. Drums on the rear which usually are on or off when you touch the pedal until your used to it. Handbrake can sometimes be a bit high (like about 6 clicks!) but usually can be adjusted if not already done so.
Just to confirm that my sisters first and technically only car which my folks still run is also a 1.2 from 2003 and I’ve serviced it many a time.

I had a 1999 polio from new for 9 years. During that time is was faultless, until it's untimely demise.
I paid nothing in repairs during that time

We bought are daughter on 04 plate 1.2 3 potter and it was a cracking car for 4 years. Only things it needed was drop links and anti roll bar bushes which are common for wearing out.
It also had a nice induction noise for a little car lol

As long as it's cheap with 12 months or near MOT it's a good banger in my book

My mother of 80+ has had one from new. Reliable, well put together and mother says it's a bit slow.

Oh well, now this has been resurrected, I can confirm she has had it over 3 months now and all good so far.
Plus she likes it - I think partly because she only had her previous Polo a couple of months before it got written off on the A3!
She did get a good deal as her employer took it in P/Ex for a new car, and the guys in the workshop gave it a good check over.
I like it too, because I didn't have to chase around to find this one (unlike her previous 2).
