Scandalous  Bmw spec oil covering 23k in a turbo :o
It is pushing it a bit.

My N54 wasn't far short of that either and they are easily lasting huge mileage.
Hhmmm , not sure you can correlate the cars that seemingly cover huge mileages & "lasting " following the intended manufacturers service regime :?
Highly likely as the cars pass out of pay monthly PCP/ lease deals in warranty onto private owners that the service regime is taken over by common sense with more sympathetic upkeep ie interim oil changes
Usually once cars pass out of their warranty maintenance gets even worse. It was a hard job to find Z4 Coupe with anything near a decent history. Even approaching people claiming to be enthusiasts their service regimes were bare minimum. 3-4 years between any servicing is common.

The N54 and N55 both run low pressure turbos and spend most of their life lazing around at very low revs. The oil isn't taking as much of a beating. Some of the lazy V8s go much further between intervals.

If I see a condition based BMW going 20,000 miles between servicing I'd guess it's had an easy life/sympathetic owner. If they've got 10,000 intervals I'd guess it's been ragged a lot without much care.

Interim oil changes are worthwhile. They wouldn't be done at a garage at dealer prices. You don't need to budget £250-300 every xxx miles. The A45 you are committed to an expensive service programme.

Service pack on all 1 series is £299 for 3 years
Running in service for an ///m is probably close to that in itself

Interesting as my Clubman JCW essentially has the 170KW 230hp BMW B48 which is the same engine which is going into the new G29 Z4 sDrive30i and is used across the BMW range on all sorts of cars in differing power levels.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BMW_B48

Ive just hit my first service scheduled at 9000 miles not 23k. It is the first service so im not sure if the schedule will then increase.

Its ridiculous that the service schedule is that higher milage. Surely its a time limit and up to 23k? I dont think I would like more than 12k on an oil change.

The service pack isn't worth it for most people unless you do big miles and squeeze the second service based on mileage.

For most people the 3 year service pack on an Mlite only covers one service that should cost less anyway. BMW won't change the brake fluid at 3 years on the 3 year service plan which is cheeky.

The Mlites are also cheaper to run. My M235i didn't need it's first service until around 23,000 miles and it was £235.

They're a great car, just fitted the Maxton lip spoiler to mine and have some carbon exhaust tips to go on, you must have one of the last manuals as its auto only now.

Grab one while you can as they will soon be history and will become like any other 4cyl euro box :(

Tim.

Think I’m gonna leave her stock, I’m not really going to use it enough to warrant doing much to it, and as it’s going to be a stop gap while we sort out the house before I get something either a bit flasher, or a bit bigger then not much point me spending too much on it...
Unless an mpe comes up for sale haha!!
