Usually once cars pass out of their warranty maintenance gets even worse. It was a hard job to find Z4 Coupe with anything near a decent history. Even approaching people claiming to be enthusiasts their service regimes were bare minimum. 3-4 years between any servicing is common.mr wilks wrote: ↑Thu Oct 11, 2018 7:26 amHhmmm , not sure you can correlate the cars that seemingly cover huge mileages & "lasting " following the intended manufacturers service regime
Highly likely as the cars pass out of pay monthly PCP/ lease deals in warranty onto private owners that the service regime is taken over by common sense with more sympathetic upkeep ie interim oil changes
The N54 and N55 both run low pressure turbos and spend most of their life lazing around at very low revs. The oil isn't taking as much of a beating. Some of the lazy V8s go much further between intervals.
If I see a condition based BMW going 20,000 miles between servicing I'd guess it's had an easy life/sympathetic owner. If they've got 10,000 intervals I'd guess it's been ragged a lot without much care.
Interim oil changes are worthwhile. They wouldn't be done at a garage at dealer prices. You don't need to budget £250-300 every xxx miles. The A45 you are committed to an expensive service programme.
