S54 Inspection 2 + Rod Bearing Service

Post by R60BBA » Tue Jul 10, 2018 11:36 am

Been quoted £1,400 for the following work:

Inspection 2
- engine oil + filter
- microfilter
- air filter
- spark plugs
- valve clearances
- differential oil
- gearbox oil
- coolant flush
- subframe check

Rod bearing service
- new shells
- bolts

+ labour

Is this about right?

(Yes I know this is for an M3 and not a Z4 but so far I have found that people are quite unresponsive on the Cutters forum)

Out of curiosity, how much is the labour on the job? What sort of mileage do I need to be thinking about a rod bearing service?

Thanks

Not sure, the quote was all in.

General consensus is every 80,000 - 100,000 miles, but this can depend on a number of factors (ie how often the oil has been changed, what type of oil has been used, whether the car has been warmed up before using full throttle etc)

I paid that for inspection2 and Rod bearing shells at my Indy, sounds about right
I think the rod bearing shells labour is about 500 ish with about 450ish of parts from what I can remember, CPC charge around £975 in total. Get them to check the engine mount bolts as they like to work themselves loose!
Currently zedless :(

Do they measure the Crankshaft for ovality and wear before they renew the con-rod bearings, not forgetting does the con-rod also get measured to make sure that it is within tolerances?
