Nothing unique about it any more then - might as well buy a Golf R, A3 or that AMG A-Class.

its a shame that it hasn't got rwd or an i6, but there's a reason other hatches don't usually. For the average hatch buyer it's too cramped inside and big on the outside

It'll be a weight issue. 140i is still behind S3s in terms of performance and higher emissions.

I understood the replacement model will be front wheel drive only for the UK and all wheel for rest of Europe. Think.the power output is down too around 300 brake.

Yes on roll the 140 should be quicker than an S3 and slightly quicker than an M2.RedUn wrote: ↑Tue Jul 17, 2018 4:11 pmA 140 will walk past an S3 on a roll no problem at all...Monkeydonkeyratmagic wrote: ↑Mon Jul 02, 2018 7:33 am It'll be a weight issue. 140i is still behind S3s in terms of performance and higher emissions.

Maybe it's the sign of the times...but the BMW brand is so much less appealing to me today than it was 10 years ago. It's so utterly diluted that I find myself not wanting to align myself with a brand that produces something like that god awful 218i minivan thing. IMO not that long ago a 'BMW' was seen as an aspirational car to drive, today I think it's become all very similar in market offering to Ford, Pegeout or the other mass market brands. A real shame for enthusiasts.
I find myself looking at Porsche (who I agree are on the same path) and wanting to make the switch.

I’m rather afraid that BMW’s exclusivity has gone, it’s now a clitoris car. Every c**t has got one

Uncanny your words could have been mine been scouring the Porsche ads myself the last few weeks unless i was looking for a day to day car to perform a function i find the whole Bmw "performance " car scene completely unstimulating i certainly wouldn't borrow for one & the thought of throwing my hard earned down fills me with dreadAngelus666 wrote: ↑Fri Jul 20, 2018 12:34 pm Maybe it's the sign of the times...but the BMW brand is so much less appealing to me today than it was 10 years ago. Lots of people want a hatchback that handles like a Type R but with more conservative looks, right? This could be it!
Or not... the smart money’s probably on the next Hyundai N.
