Sold my Nissan GTR and bought a...

Post by Babw » Sat Jun 16, 2018 1:29 am

So I put my GTR up for sale as I had it for a few years and fancied a change. I actually considered just keeping the Z4M with it's incoming upgrades as my only fun car. Test drove quite a few different motors (911 Turbo S, R8 V10 plus, 991 GT3, 570s, 650s, V12 vantage) however none really had the punch and kind of agricultural/race car feel of the GTR. I love all the noises and groans it makes. The hydraulic steering and the unequivocal positive attention, I also cringe at the thought of driving a "Furarri, Pawsha, Lambo" so I thought f**k it and had Litchfield build a bespoke GTR. I got a 5k mile car with a fantastic custom carbon/alcantara interior to be the mule for the running gear.

Spec as follows -

Litchfield 4.6litre engine conversion
LM spec. Capricorn pistons and liner conversion
LM spec. Arrow Precision connecting rods
LM spec. forged stroker crankshaft
LM Turbo manifold kit with twin custom Garrett GT32R turbos with Billet 76mm compressor wheels
LM Fuel rails
LM Fuel system with 360 fuel system
LM intake manifold
LM Race Intercooler and intake system
Litchfield 102mm exhaust system with Akrapovic tips
OEM ECU recalibrated with Ecutek software
LM spec. Bilstein Damptronic suspension with custom Eibach springs and anti-roll bar
LM Handling/castor kit
LM front Quaife diff
Carbon front lipspoiler
Carbon side skirt extension
LM20 Carbon fibre rear lipspoiler
LM Carbon fibre roof
LM20 Carbon rear bumper vents on MY17 bumper
Litchfield Stage 4 Gearbox build with Dodson Motorsport clutch
Dodson Motorsport upgraded gearset with Overdrive 6th gear
New Alcon Super Kit with 400mm brake discs and CNC Calipers
Rays G25 with PS4S - 265/305

Initial dyno on a Maha MSR500 (OEM BMW etc dyno) 1022bhp and 790 lb.ft torque.

I picked it up yesterday and the performance in the twisties and straights is outrageous. It's still on a conservative tune due to everything being brand new so need to run it in for a good while. I have no doubt it would give a 918 spyder and the likes a good run for their money in any occasion.

10 years later these great cars are still able to deliver, this one might be a keeper.

Aim was to build a sub 7 minute Nurburgring car that does 0-150 in less than 10 seconds which can also be driven daily if needed. This has a near identical drivetrain to the LM1-RS that Litchfield have developed which they’re hoping for a 6.30ish Nordschleife time this year.

When driving sensibly I’m seeing 18-21mpg! Service intervals are 6 months or 6k miles.

Thanks. I knew it would be quick but the composure yet playfulness when you provoke it is a pleasant surprise.

With the new engine it also revs to 8k rpm so not just a boring turbo lump ether.

Kudos to you, that must have cost you the best part of a brand new focus RS for that bit of work!
