Dropped the Z in for it's recall this morning and spotted a 2016 650i coupe with 5k on the clock in the dealers. My wife really likes the 6 series and her 3 is dying a slow death and i must say, it does look very good.
Has anyone had any experience with them at all and am I mad for even considering? The decision will not be right away so I really should use my head here.....

We look after an earlier 650, which is of little help i guess...
But that has been a money pit...
That said, little miles and age and i think the newer 6 looks awesome. Will have loads of warranty,so if its the right money, whats not to like?
Oh...Make sure its an M sport and not the Se..

That engine likes to drop valves. If it's the 4.9 v12 that is. Not sure if they put that in the later models.

I just got rid of my 650i - very good cars and second hand they’re a bargain. Ultimately I only got rid of mine because it was a bit too comfortable, therefore not so good for thrashing around the lanes. But if all you want to do is move from a to b is absolute comfort I’m not sure there’s much better. (Mine also kept pace with a A.M. Vantage - not bad considering he probably spent 3 times as much). It wasn’t too much to run either. Oil service and new pads cost £350, which isn’t too bad.

Interesting to hear, thans folks. Is the M sport one I've seen, Sept 16 so the lci model. Will be purely an a to b so yes it would be overkill, but ah well
Seeing the prices of ones around 05 has me worried on the value falling through the floor. It's on at 38k at the dealers so having lost 50% in less than 2 years is a worry

i'm going for a 640d (cant decide on the 2dr or gran coupe yet) but think the residuals of the diesel will be slightly better - it's a euro 6 engine so unlikley to be affected by the looming diesel catastrophe

Nope, just the other half is dead set on a Mustang. Still a V8 and tbh, would be a stretch for the 650i where as there are beginning to be a fair number of used stangs at much more sensible money coming onto the market
