Z4MC to A45 AMG
I’m I crazy to be considering this?
I’m into to my 4th year with the M and thinking about a change, and there’s no other Coupes out there under 30k and no older than a 2013 year that do 0-60 in under 5 seconds that catch my eye, so have been looking at something different and the A45 AMG has made me look twice.
Has anyone any experience of them? The facelift has around 370bhp coupled with the 4 wheel drive seems like a winning combo and with the boot spoiler, front bumper aero foil kit and in red I kinda like its looks
So am I nuts to be even thinking of this change?

If 0-60 is your criteria then you have to compromise else where. Or keep the Zed. Simples.

It's one of the quickest point to point cars on the road....different type of performance and car, if you like it then give it a go. My wife's cousin works at Mercedes Loughton and is running exactly the car you want as a daily. He likes it, not exciting like a C63, but probably faster....apparently horrendous fuel economy though, think he said he was averaging 18mpg.

Funny thing is I hardly ever drive my car where I'm using its power. I put the 0-60 criteria in there as to rule out things like the Toyota/subaru coupe.
I'm trying to convince myself also that the 981 boxster/cayman (which I really like the look of) in 2.7 is an option even though I'd much rather have the more expensive and more powerful 3.4 engine in it..... and then hardly ever use it's power too

18mpg! Autotrader has the combined at about 30mpg... Then again that's no worse than my M and I only do about 50 miles a week in it, so fuel economy isn't the biggest factor.Angelus666 wrote: ↑Sat May 19, 2018 8:52 am It's one of the quickest point to point cars on the road....different type of performance and car, if you like it then give it a go. The main take away is it will be a bit numb in comparison.
The fact is the main rivals you could buy new today are all numb, lost engine sound and are compromised in other ways.
There is a point everyone has to move on but there aren't really many good choices.

Doesn't the obvious choice of a used Cayman make a good proposition?

My mate has one,and its an absolute weapon...
It can fly down quick A roads and grip is pretty astonishing....
The fuel economy as mentioned is a bit crap if you boot it,but what isnt if it has that kind of bhp!

If you’re thinking in that direction then you’ve got to consider an M2 or and Audi RS3.

Obviously not in the same league but we've just bought an A class and the interior quality shows up my E85 Z4 big time! That's to be expected though.
Ride quality is also massively better. I also love the way the current A class looks.
Our's is only a 1.6t, approx 150bhp, but with the 7 gear DCT gearbox, it's quick off the mark and I love the steering wheel paddles, so I can only imagine how much of a weapon an A45 is!
If you do get one, I'd highly suggest you go for one with a panoramic sunroof. Without them, the interior feels rather dark and claustrophobic as the roof line is quite low.

Funnily enough I thought that A-Class ^^ was really cheap inside. The new new model is a big step up in that respect.

depends what you want out of a car really. As a 'mostly around town' buggy that you want to be quick on the b roads then its great. For something that you want to truly feel involved with in the corners and for something that has a bit more of a sense of occasion, then the boxster will be much better suited.

I'd love an M2 but they are just a bit to expensive for me right now. Though I have been keeping an eye on the M4 market, but that still takes me over 30k. The RS3 just doesn't do it for me in the looks department.
