Next motor... sense and sensibility
Morning all,
So the ST went to WBAC... HASSLE FREE!
So next as I have the funds and budget for something relatively simple and fun to dick about with.
Anyone have any wise suggestions for a circa 6k budget?
I am really wanting a Silvia S12 manual, these are cheap as chips but pretty damn rare. Ultimately would put an R32 engine in it. Standards lumps although solid aren't that powerful. (They do fit as well)
I am also being pulled towards an Evo 4 RS. Stupid fast and lightweight with no mod cons bar an AYC system. But it seems fairly reliable.
Anyone think of anything else? Don't want a Subaru and nothing German.. this Z has put me off German motors outright with their s**t build quality and cheese like components.

Big fan of the S12 Silvia (I have an S14 track car), so that would be my choice if you could find a reasonable one...
Personally I wouldn't bother with the RB engine, way too heavy for the front of the S12. I'd stick with a CA18DET or SR20DET

I actually loathe CTRs to be honest. I had an EP diesel and it drove me nuts with all the rattles, squeaky clutch peddle and those crappy window seals that screech when you lower it.mr.tourette wrote: ↑Wed May 09, 2018 10:17 am At that money a civic type r is where Id be at, great seats and the cabin is a nice place to be, need to be driven hard to get the best from but they are super reliable even when thrashed as long as they are correctly serviced.... vtec ftw

MR2 turbo? Should be able to get a decent one for 6k. Celica GT4? Same engine in both, 240bhp and tuneable.

RB20DET (6 cylinder) in the R32 GTS-T, it'll fit but not really worth it.Monkeydonkeyratmagic wrote: ↑Wed May 09, 2018 4:13 pm Fair point. I thought the Sr20 was the lump from the r32 GTS turbo?

No tis not. A tidy Clio Sport. The older manual one? Will run rings around most things at 6k.

You wouldn't be saying that after owning one from new since March 13 and doing over 65k on it. It's gets very tiresome. Noisy and crashes over everything.
Agree with above, Clio 182 is THE track hatchback. God I miss mine in so many ways..But not going back.

Think I've narrowed it down.
Silvia S12 but in manual. Can't live with a 4speed auto.
MK1 MR2 Supercharged again in manual.
Both should also have potential for some track day fun. Think I'm leaving towards the MR. Silvia is rare as rocking horse s**t and the MR has better part support.
