i30 N performance

Well..... well...... Had the opportunity to have a go in one of these today!!! I love the fact that work is now opening up these type of opportunities now days really feeling blessed!!

Anyway..... the car!! This particular car was in shining baby blue ( sorry not sure of the colour code) and it looks STUNNING sat their with the gloss black wheels, and nice red pin-striping.

No long thing, this things drives SO SO well, definitely better than the respective GTI golf, the biggest let down for me??? the interior.... in this price bracket of 30k, it just was more fiesta ST, than Golf GTI, infact the interior in the fiesta looks more modern has some of the best seats ive ever owned and the kit levels was not comparable , and has better materials which says something as they are poor in the ST. Kit level was also LOW with the i30 . The steering wheel felt awesome with the blue accents to the power-train buttons, but inside its really not good.

The engine feels great , the exhaust pops and bangs cool, it felt like a course motor however, but what a first go really impressive, and its without doubt a very serious hot hatch that drives better than the conventional rivals. Sort the cheap interior materials, and the average seats , and this really would be THE option imo. Also must add the gear change was really nice short throw and snappy and the brakes were seriously strong !!, the exterior body kit looks really cool also.

a WIN.

Sounds like an interesting alternative, although, as Clarkson said in his review of the i30 N

Although he did finish with...

I like the idea of these. Something a bit different and honest in its approach.

The interior does seem like a weak link but hopefully this will help make them £10k in 3 years time. :D

in short,

for the segment;

performance and handling 8/10
looks 8.5/10
Interior 3.5/10
overall forgiving the interior a definitely 8/10, however im not sure i can forgive the interior at 27.5 grand!! Its also really heavy, but this thing SHIFTS, really solid feeling to it... have to say as before the steering wheel is so cool with these sky blue paddles for the different modes!

The dash....... omg..... the dash was proper hard brittle feeling plastic with a monitor stuck in the middle. The seats have this really cheap feeling cloth thats trying to mimic alcantara.... so bad. If they stuck an awesome pair of recaro's in here you'd completely five it, sadly... they didn't.

Interesting with this. What is the lease price of one? A golf R or 140m can be had for a mere £279PM. With Hyundai depreciation being as bad as it is I reckon it'll be tons of money to lease.

Does look good on the outside though.

This isn't too bad imo. Crap mileage but they all are these days. Even a Kia is 6k a year.
