Ford Fiesta ST
I'm considering one of these now as my daily/station run car and wanted to get views on whether it's the 'best' car for £10k. I think they look nice and are pretty well appointed. I know a few folk have them on here, so keen to hear of the ownership experience.

I love warm hatches. I would happily drive a Fezza ST all day long. How far is the station though. 5 miles across town, is a bit of a waste. Hence we have a Clio 1.2 for that sort of stuff.

Had a MK1 and a MK2 (XR back then) and loved them both, the MK 1 was more fun and...
Sorry not helping I know but I'd have a Ford hot hatch all day long, great cars. A friend has a Focus ST, he is planning on trading it in soon for the new RS.
If you do get one... Stay away from the mountune website....

I have one. Solid motor. Done 70k since new in 2013 and never had any form of warranty work needed, never any problem with it. Runs at 42mpg. Power delivery is smooth and plentiful. Seats are the BEST you will find on any factory hatchback. Got for an ST2 though. 3s aren't worth the extra money. Pretty much all of them will have the nav unit. Style pack was only standard on 13 plates. Seen by darker wheels so watch for that. Inc some nice little mod cons.
Only downside I have with it are road noise is quite bad. The z4 is silent compared to it. You can delete the sound generator which basically plays noise through the stereo but cannot be turned off. It's passive even with the radio off???
And ford parts are actually expensive. Set of ford discs and pads all round is £550.
Service intervals are low too. Cam belt is 125k or 12 years. But it will be a pig to do once they come around to it. It's internal and bathed in oil. Water pump is electric and aux is run seperate so no interference.

I have one, my missus uses it as her commuter car. It's insanely fun to drive. I describe it as a fast go kart.
We've had 3 in the same white ST-3 spec now (I work at Ford so i get the privilege deals) and We can't bear to part with them. We've had our latest one for 14 months now, usualy we change every 9 months. Trying to hold out for the new Fiesta ST
People don't expect them to be quick.
Only problems are the firm ride (firmer than my lowered Z4) and crappy interior plastics and trim. Other than that, i'd really recommend them.
We take it to Scotland every so often and it gets around 40mpg, so not too bad on fuel either.
Don't look too bad either, in my opinion.
A remapped one (my mate had a revo st) is on a par, speed wide, with a 3.0i Z4.

^ the new one is rumored to be a poor / terrible engine. Looking good though. We match. Although I have orange seat inserts.
Oh and OP illuminated sills are notorious for failing and a bitch to change out. Led drls are non servicible. Ford also forgot to put light bulbs in the boot. So if you wonder why it doesn't have a light if you look at one. There will just be 0 bulb in there. I did a poll on ford oc a few years back. Was shocking.
Sat nav is also extemely out of date. For instance postcodes not being present despite being in existence since day 1 and some road layout changes that were pre 2010 are not present in the 2013 map pack.

Just checked and ours has a bulb in the boot. You must have got one of the friday cars no illuminated sill failures at yet either, though a friend did have one of his fail.

Ben if you have one of the later ones. Did they ever modify the arm rest in them? I need the arms of an Orangutan to be able to use them on the ST due to the seat bolsters.

The arm rest is indeed laughable it's not fit for use at all, unless you put the seat all the way back on the rails.Monkeydonkeyratmagic wrote: ↑Sun Feb 04, 2018 10:35 amBen if you have one of the later ones. I've just bought a low mileage, totally standard mk6 ST Fiesta. Not fast by any stretch of the imagination, but nippy enough for a small car. It's crap on fuel, noisy and unrefined by modern standards but it looks cool (imo) and I like it.
Will only do 3000 miles a year as it's our weekend shopping / going to the tip car, so fuel economy doesn't really matter when it uses 1 tank a month.
Totally irrelevant as your budget gets you into a much newer one.

I have one. which I adore !!! SUCH an epic machine, i have st3 spec'd ST2 .... personally i love all the toys, ive made lots of changes to this car now and its a bloody weapon of a thing!!! Literally Adore it.... what i dont adore is the theft rate of them. This is probably one of my top 3 all time fave cars ive owned, it literally reminds me of a modern r5 GTT which is massive praise!

You can eliminate any chance of theft on it by relocating the OBD port to behind the glove box (so it's physically locked) or having a blanking plate in the way or by having the slot changed to a male / female set up requiring any thief to have the adapter. I just relocated mine to behind the glove box and I say. Good luck to anyone even with that information in finding it before I hear the alarm and come down armed with a Winchester.Beedub wrote: ↑Sun Feb 04, 2018 11:02 pmI have one. which I adore !!! already sorted OBD.... still something OP needs to consider if he's buying one.Monkeydonkeyratmagic wrote: ↑Mon Feb 05, 2018 12:41 pmYou can eliminate any chance of theft on it by relocating the OBD port to behind the glove box (so it's physically locked) or having a blanking plate in the way or by having the slot changed to a male / female set up requiring any thief to have the adapter. Must be the area you guys live in. 3 owned here, my brother has had 2 and a workmate has had 3 also. No thefts between us.
I do see a lot of posts about it online. It's usually the ghetto areas though.
