Corvette C6

Post by Fishy Dave » Mon Dec 25, 2017 6:22 pm

I'm very excited, I've bought a C6!

Just over 12 months ago I got to experience a C6 Grandsport around Laguna Seca and said to myself that I would buy one from the States and drive one home, well, that's exactly what I'm doing. :yeah:

It's a manual, 6 litre LS2, 400bhp as standard, removable roof panel to fully appreciate the V8 woofle.

My wife and I fly out to California in four weeks time, then will drive it a couple of thousand miles to Houston to ship it home to Southampton. On route we will see a bit of historic route 66, Monument Valley, trackday at Circuit of The Americas and a bit of horse riding at a ranch. We will fly back in such a way as to visit the Corvette factory and museum.

In other news Beth and I are buying a house and are completely reviewing our fleet, so the BMW race car and possibly the Z4M are going. :(

Having has a few corvettes in the past there is a UK forum http://www.corvetteclub.org.uk/ Great cars in a straight line but they scare me a bit in the wet. Build quality not the best and LHD can be a bit difficult at overtaking, roundabouts T junctions but on the plus side great for continental driving. Bit of a head tuner you will find !

Wow, that’s going to be a bit different! Unbelievable amount of woofle for the money, those C6s. They’ve got some real pedigree too thanks to ALMS/Le Mans.

Congrats to you both.

Sounds amazing. What a car what a journey!

Me and my GF did a 2500 mile road trip around this area as a part of a 3 month 20,000 mile trip across the US and it was amazing.

Monument valley is epic... Was covered in snow when we were there made progress very slow but also very rare to see it like this.

If you can get to the canyonlands and arches NP its also worth it. Incredible places

They are great cars .......we have a white auto one..........I gave it a boot full @ 70 mph in a straight line on a warm dry road and it flicked sideways :o ........I expected it though . You'll love it

I suppose I should admit we import, restore and sell Corvettes C2s and 3s

Thanks, I joined the UK club a year ago in anticipation of buying one. It's a very quiet forum, reflective of only 900 or so members I guess. You don't own a Corvette now? :)

What superb photos Tom 8) We were worried about snow, but not now. A shame that the North Rim of the Grand Canyon is shut as we are passing so close.
